About this product
A Tuya Zigbee relay is the same small module as our Wi-Fi version, on Zigbee instead.

Read this first: it needs a Zigbee gateway
Zigbee devices do not join your Wi-Fi. A Tuya Zigbee relay talks to a gateway, and one is not included.
Without a gateway this module does nothing at all. We sell two that run it: the Zigbee Tuya Gateway, and the gateway with IR and Bluetooth if you want the air conditioner on your phone too.
What happens at the tenth module
That is the whole argument. Ten Wi-Fi modules are ten devices on your router, each one able to drop off on its own, competing with the phones and the television.
Ten Zigbee modules are one gateway and a mesh that gets stronger with every mains device you add. Each module repeats the signal for the next, so the far end of the house reaches the gateway through everything in between rather than shouting at the router directly.
So which one should you buy
One room, or two? Buy the Wi-Fi version. There is no gateway to buy and no reason to add one for two modules.
A whole house? This one, and the gateway pays for itself in reliability around the sixth module. It is not a close decision either way, and it does not depend on anything else about the two products.
Where the Tuya Zigbee relay goes and what it needs
It hides in the back box behind the switch you already have, and that switch keeps working.
An electrician fits it, and it needs a neutral in the box. Older wiring here often has only a live and a switched line at the switch, in which case no Zigbee module will work and you want the Shelly 1L instead.
One figure we will read rather than print
The current rating varies between production batches on this module. Ask us and we will read it off the unit in stock rather than publish a number that might not match your box.
Once the gateway is in, it lives in the Tuya or Smart Life app beside everything else, with Alexa and Google Assistant through the gateway. Being mains powered it also acts as a repeater, so each one you fit improves the mesh for the battery sensors around it. The app is documented at tuya.com.

Questions
Do I need anything else?
Yes, a Zigbee gateway, and it is not in the box. We sell the Zigbee Tuya Gateway and the one that also carries an infrared blaster and Bluetooth. Without a gateway this module cannot be reached.
Zigbee or the Wi-Fi version?
One or two rooms, take the Wi-Fi one: it needs nothing else. A whole house, take this: every mains Zigbee device repeats the signal, so the network improves as it grows instead of filling your router with devices.
Why is there no current rating on the page?
Because unbranded modules in this shape come from several factories and the figure moves between batches. On something an electrician wires in we would rather read the label than guess. Ask us and we will.
Does my existing wall switch still work?
Yes. It wires to the module instead of the light, so a tap still switches the room for anyone who does not use the app.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
