The cookies this site sets, what each one does, and how to turn them off.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It is how a site remembers that the thing you put in the basket five minutes ago is still yours. This page lists the cookies smarthome.co.tz sets, what each one is for, and how to switch them off.
Cookies we need to run the shop
These make the site work. Without them the basket empties between pages and you cannot check out.

Cookies that tell us where an order came from
WooCommerce, the shop software this site runs on, records how a visitor arrived, so we can see whether an order came from a search, from a link, or from an advert. The cookies are named sbjs_ followed by a word, and they hold the referring site and the search term, not your identity. They last about six months.
Measuring how the shop is used
We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages and products people look at. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code. They hold a random number that tells one browser apart from another. They do not hold your name or your email address. The main one lasts about two years.
Analytics also records what happens in the shop: a product opened, something added to the basket, a checkout started, and an order placed with its value. We read this in totals, to see what is selling and where people give up.
Advertising
This site carries the Meta pixel, from the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It sets cookies named _fbp and, if you arrived from a Facebook link, _fbc. They let us measure whether our advertising is working, and show our adverts to people who have already looked at the shop. They last about three months.
The pixel records the same shop actions: which products you open, what you add to the basket, when you start the checkout, and the value of an order that is placed. That is how we tell whether an advert led to a sale.
The pixel itself is not given your name, your phone number or your delivery address.
When an order is placed, the shop also sends that order to Meta from our own server, so that a sale is still counted when a browser blocks the pixel. Your name, email address, phone number, town and country are turned into a scrambled code before they leave the site. The method is one way and cannot be undone, and Meta uses the code only to match the sale to an advert it had already shown you. Your internet address and the browser you used are sent as they are, because Meta needs them to make that match. We do not send your street address, and we never send anything about your payment.
What we do not do
- We do not sell the data these cookies collect.
- We do not run third party advertising networks on this site.
- We do not use cookies to track you across sites that have nothing to do with us.
Other things loaded from elsewhere
The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. That does not set a cookie, but it does mean your browser asks Google’s server for the font file, and Google therefore sees the request. We use it because it makes the site load faster on a phone.
Turning cookies off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy.
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies.
- Safari on iPhone: Settings, Apps, Safari, then Block All Cookies or Prevent Cross-Site Tracking.
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy and Security, Enhanced Tracking Protection.
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions.
Blocking everything will stop the basket and the checkout from working, because the shop has no other way to remember what you have chosen. Blocking third party and advertising cookies alone leaves the shop working normally.
You can also limit what Meta does with the pixel from the ad settings inside your Facebook or Instagram account.
Changes
If we add a tool that sets a new cookie, we will add it to the table above.
