For one light it does the same job as the expensive ones
A Tuya WiFi relay hides in the back box behind the switch you already have and puts that circuit on your phone. On a single light, the result is indistinguishable from a module costing three times as much.
The wall switch keeps working, because it wires to the module rather than to the light. A tap still switches the room for anyone who never opens an app, which is most of the household.
It lives in the same app as everything else
It runs the Tuya or Smart Life app, which is the same app as most of the rest of this shop.
So it drops into scenes with your bulbs, sockets and curtains rather than living in an app of its own. That matters more than any single feature: a house split across four apps is a house nobody uses properly.
What you give up with the Tuya WiFi relay at this price
No power metering, no local API, no dry contact, and a spec sheet that varies between production batches.
For one light in one room, none of that matters. For a whole house you will be happier with a Shelly Plus 1, which keeps a local web interface so your schedules survive an internet outage and can switch a gate motor as well as a light. That is a real difference, not a marketing one.
What it needs to go in
An electrician fits it, and it needs a neutral in the box. Older Dar wiring often has only a live and a switched line at the switch, and in that case this module will not work at all.
Have the electrician look before you order several. If there is no neutral, the Shelly 1L is the module that works without one.
One figure we will read rather than print
The exact current rating varies between production batches on this module. It is unbranded stock and the listings disagree.
Ask us and we will read it off the unit in stock rather than publish a figure that might not be yours. That matters if you are sizing it against anything heavier than lighting; for a light circuit it is academic. Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz only, and there is no hub. The Smart Life app is on Google Play.

Why does the page not give a current rating?
Because unbranded Tuya modules in this shape are made by several factories and the figure moves between batches. Publishing the wrong one on something an electrician wires in is not a mistake worth making. Ask us and we will read the label on the unit in stock.
Do I need a hub?
No. It joins your Wi-Fi directly through the Tuya or Smart Life app. The network has to have a 2.4 GHz band and you should pair from a phone connected to that band.
How is this different from the Shelly modules?
Price, mostly. The Shellys add power metering, a local web interface that works with the internet down, and published specifications you can hand an electrician. For one light in one room this does the same job for much less.
Does my existing wall switch still work?
Yes. It stops feeding the light directly and starts telling the module what to do, so nothing changes for anyone in the room.
