What is in the Wyze Cam v1 v2 mounting kit

A metal plate and a cable extension, and both halves matter. The plate gives the camera magnetic base something to grip on a wall or a ceiling, which it will not do on plaster or paint. The 5 ft USB extension goes between the power adapter and the 6 ft lead that came with the camera, giving 11 ft in total, which is usually the difference between the camera being where the view is and being wherever the socket happens to be.

Tape or screws, and when to use which

The 3M adhesive tape supplied is enough on a smooth wall, a tiled surface or the side of a cupboard, and it leaves nothing to fill afterwards. There is also a centre hole and a screw in the kit, and that is the option to take on a ceiling or a rough wall. Tape holding a camera overhead is a bet worth not making, and the screw is already in the box.

This kit is for the original Wyze Cam and the Wyze Cam v2. The Wyze Cam Pan is a different body with a different mounting arrangement and needs its own kit. Check which camera you have before ordering; these two kits are the most commonly confused items in this category.

The extension is an ordinary USB cable

Male A to female A, so when the camera moves somewhere else or gets replaced, the extension goes on serving a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. That is unusual in a bundled accessory and worth knowing, because it means the spend is not stranded with the camera.

Which kit for which camera

This one is for a standard Wyze Cam body. For the Wyze Cam Pan, the official part is the Pan mounting kit.
