Mounting - Wyze Cam v2 (Chinese)

A Wyze Cam mount and a weather cover in one part. It holds the camera on a wall or a ceiling and shrouds it at the same time. The top edge stands a centimetre proud of the camera, so the lens is shaded from sun glare and shielded from dust, scratches and falling leaves.

A Wyze Cam mount that is also a hood

Most brackets hold a camera and stop there. This one has a top edge standing a centimetre proud of the lens, which does two jobs at once. It keeps low sun off the glass, and low sun is what turns an afternoon recording into a white smear. And it keeps dust, spray and falling leaves off a lens that would otherwise need wiping every week. A bracket with a hood is worth more outdoors than a better bracket without one.

Aim it after it is fixed, not before

The head swivels a full 360 degrees and tilts through 90. So the bracket goes on the wall where the wall allows, and the camera then points where you actually need it, and can be repointed months later without taking anything off the wall or filling holes. That is the difference between a camera watching the right thing and one watching a hedge because that is where the bracket happened to face.

Under an eave is where it earns its money

Indoors it is a tidy bracket. Under an eave, a balcony soffit or a veranda roof it is doing real work, keeping direct rain and low sun off the glass. The dark shroud also makes the camera considerably less obvious than a bare white unit stuck on a wall, which some people want and some do not.

What is in the pack

Screws, wall anchors and a screwdriver, so nothing else is needed. It fits the Wyze Cam and the iSmart Spot. The camera is not included, and this is a third party bracket rather than a Wyze one.

Which bracket for which camera

This one is for the standard Wyze Cam body. For the taller, heavier Wyze Cam Pan, which moves while it is running, use the metal Pan bracket with its wider base. If you would rather have the official Wyze parts, the Wyze mounting kit uses the camera magnetic base instead.
