About this product
The Shelly Plus H&T monitors room temperature and humidity, presenting readings directly on an integrated e-paper graphic display as well as in the Shelly Cloud app. Because e-paper consumes power only when the displayed digits change, the screen stays visible constantly without rapidly draining the power supply.
Display and Reporting
When running on battery power, the device wakes every minute to take a measurement. It refreshes the e-paper screen whenever the temperature shifts by 0.2 °C or humidity changes by 3%. To conserve battery life and prevent excessive alerts, it transmits updates to the Shelly app only when changes exceed 0.5 °C or 5% relative humidity. If readings remain steady, it sends an unconditional status report every two hours.
Power Options and Installation
The sensor operates using four 1.5 V AA batteries or via a continuous 5 V USB Type-C connection. When connected to USB power, it measures and reports readings every five minutes. The USB port powers the unit directly but does not charge internal batteries. Batteries, USB cable, and power adapter are not included.
For placement, the sensor can rest on flat surfaces using its included stand or mount to a wall using double-sided foam tape or screws (5 to 7 mm head diameter, max 3 mm thread diameter).
Connectivity and Smart Automation
The Shelly Plus H&T connects directly to standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks without requiring an external hub or gateway. Bluetooth 4.2 facilitates pairing during initial setup. Readings from the device can trigger automated scenes across other Shelly relays to manage air conditioning, ventilation fans, or dehumidifiers. It also integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and MQTT.

Questions
Do I need a separate hub or gateway for this sensor?
No. The Shelly Plus H&T connects directly to your existing 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Are the batteries and USB cable included in the box?
No. The sensor requires four 1.5 V AA batteries or a USB Type-C cable and power adapter, all sold separately.
Can the USB-C port recharge the AA batteries inside?
No. The USB Type-C port provides direct continuous power to run the sensor, but it does not recharge installed batteries.
How often does the screen update and send data to the app?
On battery power, the screen updates when the temperature changes by 0.2 u00b0C or humidity by 3%. It transmits data to the app when temperature shifts by 0.5 u00b0C or humidity shifts by 5%, or unconditionally every two hours if readings do not change.
How can this sensor be mounted?
It can stand on a table or shelf using its stand, or it can be wall-mounted using screws or double-sided adhesive foam.
