About this product
The Lightwave RF 3x Relay puts three relays in one box on the Lightwave radio system. Three circuits, or one motor driven open, stop and closed, from Lightwave switches and remotes and from the app once a hub is added.
- What the Lightwave RF 3x Relay is really for
- Or one motor, open stop and close
- 433 MHz, and what runs without the hub
- Where it belongs
- The one figure to confirm
Read this first: it is 433 MHz radio, not Wi-Fi. Paired to Lightwave switches and handsets it works entirely locally with no internet. For the phone app, schedules and voice control it needs the Lightwave Link Plus hub, which we sell separately.
What the Lightwave RF 3x Relay is really for
Three relays in one enclosure, which is a different proposition from three relays in three places. One wiring point, one device to pair, one box to open when something needs looking at years from now. On a distribution point where three circuits already meet, that is the whole saving, and it is a saving in labour rather than in the price of the parts.
Or one motor, open stop and close
The second use is a single motor driven load such as a gate, a shutter or a curtain track, with the three channels carrying open, stop and closed rather than three separate lights. If that is your plan, say so when you order, because the wiring is not the same as three independent circuits and your electrician will want to know before he starts.
433 MHz, and what runs without the hub
This is Lightwave radio at 433 MHz, not Wi-Fi. Paired to Lightwave wall switches and handsets it works on its own, locally, with no internet and no account. That is worth something in a city where the line goes down. The phone app, timers and voice control are the part that needs the Lightwave Link Plus hub, which we sell separately.
Where it belongs
Indoors, dry, out of reach and wired by an electrician. The terminals carry mains and the enclosure is not weather sealed, so a gate motor installation means the relay lives inside and the cable runs out, not the other way round.
The one figure to confirm
The load rating per channel. Lightwave publish different figures across this range depending on the exact model, and we would rather read it off the unit in stock than print the wrong number here. Ask us with your enquiry and we will check the box on the shelf the same day.
For a single circuit there is the Lightwave RF Smart Relay, the in-line one channel version. Lightwave own site is at lightwaverf.com.

Questions
Do I need the hub?
Not to switch it. Paired to Lightwave switches or handsets it runs on radio with no internet at all. The Lightwave Link Plus adds the phone app, schedules and voice, and we sell it.
Can it drive a gate or a shutter?
Three channels give you the terminals to do open, stop and close, but whether it suits your motor depends on the motor. Tell us the make and model and we will check before you buy rather than after.
How much load per channel?
We will read it off the unit rather than publish a figure we are not certain of. Tell us the three circuits and we will confirm against the label.
Will it work with the Lightwave switches I already have?
Yes, that is the point of staying in the range. It pairs to the same switches and remotes, so an existing installation grows rather than starts again.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
