About this product

A Hogar fan regulator handles the one thing an ordinary relay does badly: a ceiling fan that needs speeds.

An electrician fits it.

What a relay does badly and a regulator does well

An ordinary relay gives a ceiling fan on and off. A Hogar fan regulator gives it speeds, which is what a fan actually needs.

In a Dar bedroom the fan runs most of the night, and the useful control is dropping it a speed at midnight rather than switching it off. A relay cannot do that at all, and putting one on a fan is the commonest mistake in this category.

The Hogar fan regulator replaces the regulator, not the light switch

It goes in the back box where the existing rotary or step regulator sits, so the fan keeps its manual control and gains app control, schedules and voice on top.

That box is usually deeper than a light switch box, which works in your favour: there is more room to fit a module than there would be behind an ordinary switch.

Manual control keeps working

Whoever is in the room can still set the speed from the wall, without the app, without an account and without being on the Wi-Fi.

On a fan that matters more than on a light. A guest, a child or somebody staying over needs to be able to slow the fan down at three in the morning, and a fan that only answers a phone is a fan that gets left running.

What it is not

It is a wired in-wall fan speed module, not a plug-in device, and not a light dimmer.

Putting it on a lighting circuit is the wrong application. If you want to dim lights, that is a dimmer module such as the Shelly Dimmer, and if you want a fan and its light on one device with a remote, that is the SONOFF ceiling fan controller.

Three things we will read off the unit before you order

Hogar is an Indian brand and its modules ship on different radios and different ratings depending on the batch. Our supplier sheet is thin.

Ask us before ordering and we will read the radio, the load rating and the hub requirement off the unit on the shelf. That last one matters most: depending on the radio in the box, it may need a hub you do not own. We would rather tell you than have an electrician find out at the wall.

What is certain from the unit itself is that it is a wired in-wall fan speed module, fitted by an electrician, that keeps manual control at the wall. Hogar publish their range at hogarcontrols.com.

Questions

Why does the page not give a load rating?

Because we have not read it off the unit we are holding, and Hogar ship this module in more than one specification. A fan module is exactly the wrong place to publish a figure we are unsure of, so ask us and we will look at the label before you order.

Will it work with my ceiling fan?

It is made for ordinary AC ceiling fans on a speed regulator, which is nearly everything sold here. Send us a photograph of the fan and of the regulator currently on the wall and we will confirm.

Can it dim my lights as well?

No. It is a fan speed module. For lighting we have dimmers from Shelly, Fibaro and Aeotec and we will point you at the right one.

Does the wall control still work?

Yes. The point of a module rather than a smart plate is that nothing changes for the people using the room.

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
