About this product

A Zigbee water leak sensor the size of a bottle cap. It sits on the floor and the contacts underneath close the moment water reaches them. Your phone is told at once, which is the difference between a wet corner and a ruined room.

A Zigbee hub is required and is not included.

Where a Zigbee water leak sensor belongs

Wherever a slow leak can run for a week before anybody looks. The trap under a basin. The back of a washing machine. The base of a water heater. A plant room or a pump house. The floor of a store room below a bathroom. None of those are places people visit daily, which is exactly why the damage is done by the time they do.

It can shut the water off, not only tell you

On the same app as the rest of the house, the sensor becomes a trigger rather than a notification. Linked to a smart valve it closes the supply the moment the contacts wet. Linked to a siren it wakes the house. Being told about a leak while you are at work is useful; having the water already off when you get home is a different order of useful.

Two years on a button cell

One CR2032 and about two years of standby, because a Zigbee sensor sitting still and saying nothing draws almost nothing. It sticks down with double sided tape, so fitting it is a thirty second job with no tools and no holes in a tiled floor.

Why the size matters

It is about the size of a bottle cap. That sounds like a detail and decides where it can go: under a machine rather than beside it, behind a pedestal, inside a cupboard with the pipework. A sensor that only fits in the open is a sensor watching the wrong square metre of floor.

What it needs

A Zigbee hub, not included. Either the Tuya Zigbee gateway or the one with an IR blaster in it will do. To make it audible, add the Zigbee siren on the same hub.

If your system runs on Z-Wave, the Fibaro Flood Sensor does the same job with a temperature reading and a relay output as well. You will set it up in Smart Life, which is a free download.

Questions

Do I need a hub?

Yes. This is a Zigbee device and a Zigbee hub has to be on site. We sell them.

Where should it go?

On the floor at the lowest point near whatever can leak: under the sink, beside the washing machine, at the water heater, in the plant room.

Can it turn the water off?

Not on its own, but it can trigger a smart valve through the app. Ask us what valves we have.

Does it make a noise itself?

The alert is on your phone. If you want the house to hear it, link it to one of our sirens in the app.

What battery does it take?

One CR2032 button cell, good for about two years.

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
