Read this first: the Shelly Wall Switch 1 is not a smart device
It is a plate and a button. There is no radio in it, no processor, nothing to pair and nothing that will appear in an app. The intelligence lives in the Shelly relay behind it in the back box, and that relay is sold separately. Buy this on its own and it will do nothing at all, which is the single most common mistake made with this product and the reason it is the first line on this page.
What it is actually for
Giving a Shelly module a proper face on the wall. Fitted behind an ordinary switch, a Shelly works fine but you are left with whatever plate was there. This is the matching plate, with attachable holders that hook the Shelly onto its back so the whole assembly drops into a standard European back box as one piece. The result looks like a switch, not like a retrofit.
One button, and when that is right
A single circuit. One light, one fan, one socket. Paired with a Shelly 1, 1PM or 1L behind it, this is the tidiest possible smart switch: one plate, one button, one load, nothing visible. If the box feeds two circuits, the two button plate is the one to order instead.
What it works with
Shelly 1, 1PM, 2.5, 1L and Dimmer 2, the whole Plus range, and the Gen3 and Gen4 units including 1, 1PM, 2PM, i4, Dimmer and DALI Dimmer. Check your module against that list before ordering. The plate itself carries low voltage only, at most 12 V DC or 18 V AC at 50 mA, because it is the Shelly behind it that does the switching.
What to order with it
A Shelly module, since the plate does nothing alone. The Shelly 1 for a plain circuit, the Shelly 1PM if you also want to see what it is drawing, the Shelly 1L where there is no neutral in the box, or the Shelly Dimmer for dimmable lighting.
For two circuits from the same box, the two button plate. It comes in white and black, is 70 by 70 by 12 mm without the holder, and is fitted by a licensed electrician. Shelly list the accessories at shelly.com.
