The screen is not decoration
The colour LCD on the front of the Shelly Pro 4PM shows the time, the network state and all four outputs, and the outputs can be switched from the front of the board.
When somebody is standing at the distribution board wondering which way round things are, that is worth a great deal more than an app on a phone in another room. An electrician working on the board can see and control what they are working on without asking anyone to unlock a handset.
Metering on all four channels
Every channel reports voltage and current separately, so four circuits give you four independent figures rather than a house total.
That is what turns a distribution board into something you can reason about: which of the four is the expensive one, at what time of day, and whether last month was different. A single whole-house meter tells you the bill is high; this tells you which circuit is responsible.
Wired ethernet, because the board is steel
An RJ45 socket, so the module can be cabled to the router rather than trusting Wi-Fi to reach through a metal consumer unit door.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both there as well. On a four circuit device that is also your metering, the cable is worth running.
Check the total, not just the per channel figure
16A per channel but 40A across all four. That total governs.
Four 16A circuits would be 64A and this module will not carry it. Plan the four loads against the 40A figure with your electrician before the board is designed around it, not after.
Shelly Pro 4PM installation and the smaller options
96 x 53 x 59mm on DIN rail, drawing under 4W, on a 110 to 240V AC supply. An electrician installs it in the distribution board.
This is the top of the Shelly range and priced accordingly. If you need three circuits and no metering, the Pro 3 has dry contacts for gates and boilers. For one metered circuit, the Pro 1PM. The Pro range documentation is at shelly.com.

Questions
What is the screen for?
Time, network status and the four outputs, and you can switch them from the front. Anyone standing at the board can see and change what is on without finding a phone, which matters when it is not your house or not your app.
Is four channels overkill for a house?
Often not. Geyser, borehole pump, outside lighting and a gate motor is four already, and having all four metered separately is where the money shows up.
Do wall switches still work?
Yes. It takes switch inputs alongside the app, so nothing has to change for people using the rooms.
Why the network socket?
A metal consumer unit is one of the worst places in a house for Wi-Fi. A cable to the router removes that problem entirely. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth still work if a cable is not practical.
