If you have a socket within reach of where you want to watch, that is a real advantage over every battery model beside it.

It records 2K across a 130° view, with 8× digital zoom to pull in detail. A small 30 lumen spotlight sits above the lens, enough to light a doorway rather than a driveway. On-device AI separates people from pets from ordinary movement, and it also listens, so it can flag a crying baby or an unusual noise.

Storage is the other thing that sets it apart. Alone in this range it takes a microSD card, up to 128 GB, and eufy puts a 32 GB card in the box. Nothing else to buy, no subscription, and no HomeBase needed.

It is rated IP67 and specified from −20 °C to 45 °C, so it lives outside quite happily, and it works with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant.

No battery, no ladder

Every other outdoor camera in this range runs on a battery you take down and recharge three or four times a year. A mains powered outdoor camera does not, and if there is a socket within reach of where you want to watch, that is the whole argument for it.

It plugs in on a 5V 1A adapter and stays plugged in. Nothing to charge, nothing to remember.

A 32 GB card in the box

Alone in this range it takes a microSD card, up to 128 GB Class 10, and eufy include a 32 GB one. Cloud and NAS are supported as well if you want them.

So there is nothing else to buy, no subscription, and no HomeBase. For a single camera on a wall that is the cheapest honest setup eufy sell.

What it sees

2K across a 130 degree view with 8x digital zoom. On-device AI separates people from pets from ordinary movement, and it listens too, flagging a crying baby or an unusual noise.

The spotlight is small, 30 lumens. That is enough to light a doorway and not enough to light a driveway, which is the honest limit of this model. If you want the yard lit, the L40 puts out 600.

Outdoors, all year

Rated IP67 and specified from minus 20 to 45 degrees C, in a body 66 mm square and 114 g. Two-way audio and an alarm are built in, and it answers Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Where a mains powered outdoor camera makes sense

Over a front door, at a gate with a light already wired to it, on a shop frontage, or anywhere a socket is within a couple of metres. In those places the battery models are solving a problem you do not have, and you pay for it in a camera that has to come down three times a year.

Where it does not make sense is the far corner of a plot or the top of a wall, anywhere running a cable would mean cutting a channel. That is what the solar cameras are for, and we would rather point you at one than sell you an extension lead.

Only if there is a socket
