About this product
The Fibaro Single Switch 2 is a metered relay small enough to hide in the back box behind a switch you already have.

- Metering to within 1 per cent
- Check the load and the box

Read this first: it is Z-Wave, not Wi-Fi
The Fibaro Single Switch 2 will not pair with your phone on its own. There is no app that talks to it directly.
It needs a Z-Wave controller, and we sell three that run it: the Home Center Lite, the Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro. If you want something that works out of the box with just a phone, the Shelly Plus 1 is the simpler buy.
What Z-Wave gives you back
A network rather than a collection of gadgets. Every mains powered device on it, this module included, repeats the signal for the rest.
So coverage improves as the system grows instead of loading up your router. The tenth module makes the ninth more reliable, which is the opposite of what happens when you keep adding Wi-Fi devices to one access point.
Metering to within 1 per cent
Active power and energy, accurate to 1 per cent above 5W.
That is tight enough to settle an argument about what a circuit costs rather than merely hint at it. Most in-wall modules at this size do not meter at all, and the ones that do are usually looser.
Check the load and the box
Rated 8A resistive, which is a lighting and small appliance figure rather than a geyser one. Do not size it against the 16A Shelly modules.
It is 42.5 x 38.25 x 20.3mm, an electrician fits it, and it needs a neutral in the box. Older Dar wiring often has only a live and a switched line at the switch, which rules this module out entirely; have the electrician look before you order several.
What the Fibaro Single Switch 2 does not do
No dimming. It switches only. For dimming on the same Z-Wave network, that is the Fibaro Dimmer 2, which also works without a neutral.
The wall switch keeps working throughout, with either a momentary or a toggle switch on the input, so nothing changes for anyone in the house who never opens an app. For two circuits from one box, the Double Switch 2 does that at a lower per-channel rating. Fibaro list the in-wall modules at fibaro.com.

Questions
Do I need anything else to use it?
Yes, a Z-Wave controller. This is not a Wi-Fi module and it will not pair with a phone on its own. The Fibaro Home Center Lite, the Fibaro Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro all run it and we sell all three.
Do I need a neutral in the switch box?
Yes. Fibaro's own wiring requires it. If your switch box has only a live and a switched line, this module is out and you want one of the no-neutral options instead, so tell us and we will point you at them.
Why only 8 amps when other modules say 16?
Because Fibaro publish the figure the module will hold continuously in a sealed box, and they are conservative about it. For lighting and ordinary circuits it is plenty; for a geyser or a pump it is not, and we will say so.
Does my existing wall switch still work?
Yes. It stops feeding the light directly and starts telling the module what to do, so nothing changes for anyone using the room. Momentary and toggle are both supported.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
