Not a light switch: it motorises what you already have
A Fibaro Roller Shutter 3 drives a roller shutter, a blind, an awning, a gate or a garage door up and down and stops it anywhere in between.
The position is remembered, so you can send it to half open rather than only fully one way or the other. That is the difference between a shutter you can operate and one you can actually set for the afternoon sun.
Venetian blinds get their own mode
In Venetian mode the slat angle is controlled separately from the height.
That detail matters more than it sounds. Raising a Venetian blind and tilting its slats are two different things, and most shutter modules can only do the first. Here you can leave the blind down and open the slats, which is what you actually want at three in the afternoon.
Two hard constraints to check before you buy
The motor must be single phase AC with its own limit switches, mechanical or electronic. A DC motor will not work with this module at all, and no setting changes that.
And it needs a back box at least 60mm deep, which is deeper than many boxes here. Both of these are things to establish with your electrician before ordering, not after, because neither has a workaround.
The Fibaro Roller Shutter 3 meters the motor
Active power and energy to within 1 per cent between 10 and 1000W.
On a motor that is genuinely useful rather than a curiosity: a shutter motor drawing more than it used to is a motor with a bearing going or a track binding, and metering shows that before the thing jams shut on a Sunday.
Read this first: it is Z-Wave, not Wi-Fi
It needs a Z-Wave controller and one is not included. We sell three that run it: the Home Center Lite, the Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro.
If a controller is not in your plan, the Shelly Plus 2PM has a roller shutter mode over plain Wi-Fi with obstacle detection, though without the Venetian slat control. Rated 4.2A resistive, or 1.7A for a motor with power factor compensation. A neutral is required and an electrician fits it. Fibaro cover the shutter modules at fibaro.com.

Will it work with my motor?
It has to be a single phase AC motor with its own limit switches, mechanical or electronic, which covers most shutter and awning motors sold here. A DC motor will not work at all. Tell us the make and model of the motor and we will check before you buy.
Will it fit in my box?
Fibaro ask for a back box of 60 mm or more, which is deeper than plenty of the boxes in older houses. Have your electrician measure it first, because this is the constraint that catches people out.
Can it do a gate or a garage door?
Often yes, if the motor is single phase AC and takes an up and down input. Every gate motor is a bit different, so send us the make and model and we will confirm it rather than guess.
Do I need anything else?
A Z-Wave controller, which is not included, and a neutral in the box. We sell the Fibaro Home Center Lite, the Fibaro Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro and any of them runs it.
