eufy Security 2K Indoor Cam

A small plug-in eufy indoor camera for one room. It stands on a shelf or screws to the wall, watches in 2K, and sends what it sees straight to your phone through the eufy Security app. There is no hub to buy and no HomeBase to set up first.

The detection runs on the camera itself rather than in the cloud, so it separates a person from a pet from a passing shadow and only calls for you when something worth seeing happens. It listens as well: sound detection and crying detection are both built in, which is what makes it as useful over a cot as over a doorway.

Footage goes to a microSD card in the camera, up to 128 GB and bought separately, or to eufy's cloud. Nothing has to be subscribed to for the camera to work. Two-way audio lets you speak through it, infrared night vision keeps the picture usable after the lights go off, and it answers to Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit.

It runs on mains power through the adapter in the box and stays plugged in. There is no battery in it.

A microSD card goes in the camera, up to 128 GB, bought separately. There is also eufy cloud backup if you want it. Neither is compulsory: nothing has to be subscribed to for the camera to work, and if you never buy a card or a plan it still watches and still notifies.

Talking through it, and seeing in the dark

Two-way audio means you can answer whoever is standing in front of it, useful over a cot or at a back door. Infrared night vision switches itself on, so the picture stays usable after the lights go off, in black and white.

The lens covers 125 degrees with 8x digital zoom, at 2K rather than the 1080p most indoor cameras stop at.

Before you buy

It plugs into the mains through the adapter in the box and stays plugged in. There is no battery, so it is not a camera to put somewhere without a socket.

Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only, which catches people whose router hides both bands behind one network name. It answers Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit, and it needs no HomeBase.

Which eufy indoor camera

This is the fixed one. If you want a single unit to cover a whole room rather than one corner of it, the Pan and Tilt turns 360 degrees and the Mini does the same in a smaller body. eufy publish the specifications at eufy.com.
