The plug that takes the Danalock V3 off Bluetooth and onto the internet. Put it in a socket near the door, and the lock you could only reach from the hallway becomes one you can lock, unlock and watch from anywhere.

This is what makes a Danalock useful to a landlord. Somebody arrives at the flat and you are across town: you open the door from your phone. A guest leaves and you want to know the door is locked: you check, and lock it if it is not. No key handover, no meeting anybody, no spare key in a flowerpot.

It speaks Bluetooth 5.0 to the lock and Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz to your router, so it has to sit within Bluetooth range of the door. One Danabridge carries up to two Danalocks. It runs off a USB adapter, and it is small, 53 x 53 x 32 mm, so it disappears into a hallway socket.

One thing to know. Danalock's own material describes remote locking and unlocking through the Danabridge as being for the administrator, the account that owns the lock. If you need several people opening the door remotely rather than one, tell us before you order and we will confirm exactly how it behaves on your setup.

How the Danalock Wi-Fi bridge connects

The bridge is not wired to the lock. It speaks Bluetooth 5.0 to the Danalock and Wi-Fi to your router, so it has to live within Bluetooth range of the door: a hallway socket near the frame is the usual spot. The Wi-Fi side is 2.4 GHz only, which is worth checking if your router hides that band behind a single combined network name.

Setup runs in the Danalock app. The bridge is added to the same account that owns the lock, and from then on the lock answers whether you are in the hallway or not. One Danalock Wi-Fi bridge carries up to two locks, so a front and a back door on the same landing need one unit rather than two.

Who a Danalock Wi-Fi bridge is for

The case for it is anyone who is not always at the door. A landlord letting a flat, an office manager who needs the door open before the first person arrives, a household expecting a delivery. Without the bridge the Danalock is a Bluetooth lock and everything happens within a few metres of the frame. With it, the same lock answers from anywhere with a signal.

It draws power from an ordinary USB adapter, which is supplied, and at 53 x 53 x 32 mm and 36 g it sits in a socket without blocking the one beside it. The link is secured with AES256.

Before you order a Danalock Wi-Fi bridge

Before you add a bridge

Check two things first. That there is a socket within Bluetooth range of the door, because walls eat that signal quickly. And that your router is handing out 2.4 GHz, because the bridge will not see a 5 GHz network at all.
