An automatic smart lock, full height, that throws and withdraws the bolt by motor. You do not turn anything. Present a finger, and the deadbolt pulls back on its own; push or pull the long handle and walk in. Close the door and it locks itself.

Five ways in: fingerprint, code, IC card, the Tuya app and a mechanical key. Wi-Fi is built in, so there is no gateway to buy, and the app carries remote unlocking, temporary codes, live lock status and the record of who opened the door. Virtual password entry lets you bury the real code in junk digits. It holds 300 users, nine of them administrators.

Power is a rechargeable 3,200 mAh lithium battery rather than dry cells, with a micro USB port for a power bank in an emergency. The cylinder is Grade C, the highest of the three Chinese cylinder grades. It fits doors 40 to 120 mm thick on a 6068 mortise, 24 x 240 mm. Cylinder, alarms and the screen

The cylinder is Grade C, the highest of the three Chinese cylinder grades, behind an aluminium alloy body with a tamper alarm. A display and a doorbell are built into the panel.

Fitting it to your door

The panel is 75 x 395 mm and it takes doors 40 to 120 mm thick on a 6068 mortise at 24 x 240 mm. Other bodies can be ordered: 6068 in 30 x 240 mm and 30 x 388 mm, and 7068. Tell us what is in your door and we will confirm it.

Power is a rechargeable 7.4 V, 3,200 mAh lithium battery rather than dry cells, with a 5 V micro USB port for a power bank and a low voltage warning at 4.6 V. Black is stocked; grey and rose gold are available to order.

The one you do not have to think about

Everything else here needs somebody to lock it. This throws the bolt itself when the door shuts, which is the difference between a door that is usually locked and one that always is. If that is what you are buying, this is the model.
