About this product

A round weatherproof keypad that goes on the wall outside, next to the door, and opens the Danalock V3 with a code instead of a phone. It is the piece that makes a Danalock usable by everybody in the house rather than only the people whose phones are paired to it.

Children without phones, a house help, an older relative, a visitor whose phone is flat: they get four to ten digits and they are in. You can hold 20 codes at a time and delete any of them from the Danalock app when somebody no longer needs one.

It is rated IP54 and made to sit outside, from -20 to 50 degrees, in rain, fog and salt air. It runs on four AAA cells and mounts with two screws next to the doorframe. It is 82 mm across and 34 mm deep, so it reads as a doorbell rather than as security equipment.

Compatibility matters here. The Danapad works with the Danalock V3 that we sell, the Bluetooth and Z-Wave one, and it does not work with the Danalock V3 HomeKit. If you already own a Danalock, tell us which one before you order.

Why add a Danalock keypad at all

A Danalock on its own opens for phones that have been paired to it. That is fine until somebody without one needs to get in, and in most houses that is most of the time: children, a house help, an older relative, a visitor whose battery has died. The Danalock keypad is the piece that turns a phone lock into a door everybody can use, because a code works for anyone you give it to.

Codes run from four to ten digits and you can hold twenty at once. Each is added and deleted in the Danalock app, so a code given to a contractor for a week is removed the week after without anybody standing at the door.

Fitting a Danalock keypad outside

It is built to live outdoors: IP54, and rated from -20 to 50 degrees C, which covers rain, salt air and direct sun. It goes on the wall beside the doorframe with two screws and runs on four AAA cells, so there is nothing to wire and no power to run to it.

At 82 mm across and 34 mm deep it reads as a doorbell rather than as security equipment, which is the point. A keypad that looks like a safe tells passers-by there is something worth opening.

Check which Danalock you own first

The Danalock keypad works with the Danalock V3 Bluetooth and Z-Wave, which is the model we sell. It does not work with the Danalock V3 HomeKit. If you already own a lock rather than buying both together, tell us which version it is before you order and we will confirm it. Battery life is not published by Danalock, so we would rather you asked us than we guessed at a figure.

One question before you order

Which Danalock do you have? The Danapad pairs with the V3 Bluetooth and Z-Wave, and not with the V3 HomeKit. Buying both together, there is nothing to check. If the lock is already on your door, tell us the model and we will confirm it in a minute rather than have you send this back.

Questions

Which Danalock does it work with?

The Danalock V3 Bluetooth and Z-Wave, which is the one we sell. It does not work with the Danalock V3 HomeKit. If you already own a Danalock, tell us which before you order.

Why would I add a keypad at all?

So that the door works for people without a paired phone. Children, a house help, an older relative, a visitor whose battery is flat. Each gets a code of four to ten digits, and you delete it from the app the day they no longer need it.

Can it stay outside in the rain?

Yes. It is rated IP54 and made for outdoor mounting, from -20 to 50 degrees, including damp and salt air. It fixes to the wall by the doorframe with two screws.

How many codes can I have?

Twenty at a time. Add and remove them in the Danalock app.

How long do the batteries last?

Danalock do not publish a figure for it, so we are not going to invent one. It takes four AAA cells, which come in the box. Ask us and we will tell you what customers here actually get out of a set.

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
