Aeotec ByPass for Nano Dimmer

The Aeotec Bypass (ZW150-Z) is a compact dummy load resistor designed to eliminate flicker, buzzing, and faint glowing in low-wattage lighting circuits connected to dimmer modules. When modern energy-saving bulbs such as LEDs or compact fluorescents (CFLs) operate on dimmers, residual trickle currents can cause the lamps to glow even when turned off or flicker when dimmed. This bypass absorbs stray power to stabilize the circuit.

Compatibility and Load Requirements

This bypass is required primarily on lighting circuits where the total connected load is less than 4 watts, though it is frequently paired with dimmers installed in two-wire (no neutral) or three-wire systems. It works with static and dimmable LEDs, CFLs, incandescent bulbs, and halogen lighting. While engineered to pair directly with the Aeotec Nano Dimmer and illumino Dimmer Switch, it is also compatible with a wide range of third-party TRIAC dimmer modules and smart switches.

Installation and Placement

Measuring just 25 x 10 x 19 mm, the unit fits into tight electrical enclosures. It can be wired directly inside the switch wall box or placed in parallel immediately prior to the light bulb or light bank at the fixture. A qualified electrician should install the module across the neutral and switched-live lines of the lighting load. The unit is passive and contains no Z-Wave or RF radio, requiring no app pairing or network configuration.
