A WiFi extension lead replaces three smart plugs
A WiFi extension lead with independently switched sockets replaces three separate smart plugs, three Wi-Fi connections and three entries in your app with one of each.
That matters on a desk or a television wall where three plugs would not physically fit side by side anyway. Router on socket one, television on socket two, a lamp on socket three, each with its own timer, countdown and scene membership.
The USB ports work differently from the sockets
There are six of them across the top, and they switch as a single group rather than individually.
Worth knowing before you plan around it. You cannot cut one phone charger and leave the other five running. In practice that is fine, because the reason to switch USB at all is usually to stop everything charging overnight, which the group does perfectly well.
Nothing to wire
The plug on the lead is a moulded UK 13A fused plug, so it goes straight into a socket you already have. No electrician and no wall box.
That is the difference between this and our wired-in smart wall sockets. This one you take with you when you move; those stay in the wall.
It still works with the internet down
A button on the body switches everything by hand.
It runs the Tuya or Smart Life app on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi with no hub, and works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Schedules and countdowns are set per socket.
Three figures we will not print until we have read them
The total wattage the lead is rated for, the USB output, and the cable length are not published by the manufacturer.
We are not going to guess at any of them, and the first one in particular matters. Ask us before you plan to run anything heavy through it, such as a heater, a kettle or a pump, and we will read the label on the unit in stock. A lead like this is normally sized for electronics and lighting rather than for high-current appliances, and the printed figure is the one that governs.
If you only need one switched socket, a single Wi-Fi smart plug has a published 13A, 2990W rating. The Smart Life app is documented at tuya.com.

Questions
Can I switch each socket on its own?
Yes. The three mains sockets appear separately in the app, so each one gets its own timer, countdown and voice command. The six USB ports are the exception: they switch together as one group.
Why buy this instead of three smart plugs?
One device on your Wi-Fi instead of three, one setup instead of three, and it does not swallow three sockets on the wall. Behind a television or under a desk it is also simply tidier.
How much can I run through it?
We are not printing a number we have not read. The plug on the lead is a UK 13 A fused plug, which is the ceiling for the whole lead, but the lead's own rating is what matters and it is not published anywhere we trust. Tell us what you want to run and we will read the label on the unit in stock before you buy.
Does it need a hub?
No. It joins your Wi-Fi directly through the Tuya or Smart Life app. The network has to have a 2.4 GHz band, and you should pair it from a phone connected to that band.
What happens when the internet goes down?
The button on the body still switches it, so nothing is stranded. Schedules and remote control come back when the connection does.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
