- It also extends the mesh
- Check the load before you buy
The Fibaro Wall Plug is Z-Wave, not Wi-Fi
There is no app that pairs with a Fibaro Wall Plug directly. It needs a Z-Wave controller, and without one it is an inert socket.
We sell three that run it: the Home Center Lite, the Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro. If you want something that works on its own with just your phone, buy a Wi-Fi plug instead and save the difference.
Metering to within 1 per cent
It reports power to within 1 per cent on any load above 5W, which is accurate enough to settle an argument about what is costing you money rather than merely suggest an answer.
Most plug-in meters are far looser than that, and a loose meter on a small load tells you nothing useful. This one will show the difference between a fridge cycling and a fridge with a failing seal.
The LED ring tells you two different things
In normal use the crystal ring changes colour with the load, so the socket itself shows what the appliance is doing without opening an app.
During setup the same ring reports how well it is reaching the controller: green for a direct link, yellow when it is routing through another device, red when it cannot connect. That turns Z-Wave range from a guessing game into a walk around the house with a plug in your hand, and it is the single most useful commissioning feature on any Z-Wave device we sell.
It also extends the mesh
Like every mains powered Z-Wave device it repeats the signal for the battery devices near it.
So a plug in a far room is not only a switch, it is the thing that lets a door sensor at that end of the house reach the controller at all. Range is up to 50m outdoors and 40m indoors between devices.
Check the load before you buy
13A on ordinary resistive loads, but the headline figure is not the one that matters for everything:
8A on filament lamps, 3A on electronic ballasts, and 750W on motors. That last figure is the one to check for a pump, a compressor or a fridge, and it is well under the 13A the socket carries otherwise. Inrush is rated at 80A for 20ms.
Nothing to wire and no electrician: it goes in a socket, the appliance goes in it, and it is done. It is 56 x 56 x 58.5mm on Z-Wave Plus 500 series at 868.4 to 869.8MHz. Fibaro publish it at fibaro.com.

Questions
Do I need anything else to use it?
Yes, a Z-Wave controller. It has no Wi-Fi and will not pair with a phone by itself. The Fibaro Home Center Lite, the Fibaro Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro all run it and we sell all three. Without one, this is not the right plug for you.
Can I run a water pump or a fridge compressor through it?
Watch the motor figure. Fibaro rate it at 750 W for motor loads, which is well under the 13 A headline, because a motor draws a large surge every time it starts. Tell us the pump and we will check the plate rating with you before you buy.
Why does it say 8 A for lamps when it says 13 A everywhere else?
Old filament bulbs pull a big spike at the instant of switch on, so the contacts inside are derated for them. On LED lighting you will never come close to either number.
What do the ring colours mean?
In normal use the ring changes colour with how hard the appliance is working. During setup it tells you about the radio link instead: green means it is talking straight to the controller, yellow means it is going through another device, red means it cannot reach the controller from where you are standing. Move it one socket closer and try again.
Does it need an electrician?
No. Nothing is wired. It plugs into a socket you already have and the appliance plugs into it.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
