Why a Zigbee door sensor rather than a Wi-Fi one
Three reasons, and they compound. Zigbee draws a fraction of the power, so a coin cell lasts where a Wi-Fi sensor would want charging. It does not take a slot on your router, which matters once you are past a dozen devices and the router starts dropping the quiet ones. And every mains powered Zigbee device in the house repeats the signal, so a sensor on the back gate can reach a hub at the front through the lamps and sockets in between.
A Hall sensor, not a reed switch
Cheap contacts use a glass reed switch, which is a mechanical part with a glass envelope and a finite number of operations in it. This one uses a Hall effect sensor: solid state, nothing to wear, and less prone to sticking or to being fooled by a magnet held against the frame from outside. On a door opened twenty times a day that difference shows up within a couple of years.
It does not fail quietly
Two things get reported besides opening. Tampering, so removing the sensor from the frame is itself an event. And low battery, pushed to the app before the cell dies rather than after. A security sensor that goes flat without telling anybody is worse than no sensor at all, because you believe you are covered.
Where it fits
The body is 55 by 26 by 12 mm and the magnet 35 mm, small enough to disappear on most frames. It goes on doors and windows, and also on the places people forget: a store cupboard, a drawer with keys in it, a gate, a medicine cabinet. Adhesive mounting, no tools, no drilling.
What you need first
A Zigbee hub, which is not included. We sell the Tuya Zigbee gateway and a gateway with an IR blaster and Bluetooth built in. Add the hub to the Smart Life or Tuya app first, then add this sensor to the hub.
To make an opening audible rather than a notification, pair it with the Zigbee siren on the same hub. Smart Life, the app it lives in, is a free download.

Questions
Do I need a hub?
Yes. This is a Zigbee device and a Zigbee hub has to be on site. We sell them. If you would rather not run a hub, buy the Wi-Fi door sensor instead.
Why choose Zigbee over Wi-Fi?
Battery life, mainly. A Zigbee sensor sips power where a Wi-Fi one drinks it. Zigbee also does not fill your router with devices, and mains powered Zigbee devices repeat the signal so the range grows as you add more.
Which hub?
Any Tuya or Smart Life Zigbee hub. Add the hub to the app first, then add this sensor to the hub.
How is it fitted?
Adhesive on both halves, lined up beside each other on the frame and the moving part. No drilling.
What battery does it take?
One CR2032 coin cell, and the app warns you in the app before it stops working.
