About this product
A complete WiFi LED strip kit: five metres of strip, an in-line Wi-Fi controller, a plug-in power adapter and a 44 key handheld remote, all in one box.
- Why this WiFi LED strip kit has a white channel
- Everything is in the one box
- IP44, and what that permits
- One colour at a time along the run
- Fitting it, and one figure to confirm
It joins your Wi-Fi through the controller and runs from the Tuya or Smart Life app, with Alexa and Google Assistant and a music sync mode.
Why this WiFi LED strip kit has a white channel
A plain RGB strip makes white by running red, green and blue together. The result is a slightly off, faintly coloured white that looks wrong on a ceiling.
This WiFi LED strip kit has a fourth channel of real white LEDs that you can warm or cool independently. That is what makes it usable as everyday light in a ceiling cove or under a kitchen counter, rather than as party colour you switch on twice a year.
Everything is in the one box
Five metres of strip, an in-line Wi-Fi controller, a plug-in power adapter, and a 44-key infrared remote. Nothing else to source.
The remote matters more than it sounds. Anyone in the room can change the light without being added to your Smart Life account, and it still works when the internet is down. A strip that only one person's phone can control becomes that person's job.
IP44, and what that permits
Splash resistant. A covered veranda, a soffit, a bathroom cove or a kitchen splashback are all fine.
Do not run it where rain lands on it directly and do not let it sit in water. IP44 is not the same as the IP65 or IP67 you need for a garden wall or an exposed edge, and in a Dar rainy season that difference is the whole lifespan of the strip.
One colour at a time along the run
This is the limitation to understand before ordering. The whole five metres shows one colour at a time. Change it and the entire run changes together.
For a gradient, a rainbow or a chase running along the length you need an addressable strip instead, where each segment holds its own colour. The Govee RGBIC strip is that, and it is the right buy if the effect matters more than the white channel.
Fitting it, and one figure to confirm
The strip is adhesive backed and cuttable at the marked points, so it trims to a shelf or a cove. Clean the surface properly first; dust is why strips fall down a month later. It draws about 5W per metre, so roughly 25W over the full five.
We list the supply as low voltage DC rather than quoting a specific figure, because that is what the manufacturer prints. Ask us and we will read the adapter label before you buy a spare or a longer run, rather than you ordering the wrong supply. Download Smart Life before the strip arrives and the setup takes minutes: it is on Google Play.

Questions
What is the difference between RGB and RGBW here?
RGB mixes red, green and blue to make a white that always looks a little tinted. This strip has a fourth white LED on its own channel, so plain white is actually white and you can push it warmer or cooler. That is the difference between a strip you use for effect and one you can light a room with.
Can I cut it shorter, or join two together?
You can cut it at the marked points and the piece you keep still works. Joining two 5 m runs onto one controller and one adapter is a different question, because the adapter has to carry both, so tell us the length you need and we will work it out before you buy.
Can it go outside?
Under a roof, yes. IP44 means it copes with splashes, not with rain falling on it or with standing water. A covered veranda, a soffit or a pergola with a solid top is fine. An open wall in the wet season is not.
Does the remote need the phone or the Wi-Fi?
No. The remote talks straight to the controller by infrared, so it keeps working when the internet is down. The app is what gives you schedules, scenes, voice control and control from outside the house.
How do I stick it up so it stays up?
Clean and dry the surface first, then press the whole length down firmly as you go. Adhesive backing lets go on dusty, rough or freshly painted surfaces, so on those use the small clips instead of trusting the tape.
