About this product
A black keypad deadbolt for a door that takes the American style fitting: a round bore through the door and a bolt that shoots into the frame, with no handle attached to it.
- Three things this smart deadbolt does that cheaper locks do not
- Five ways in, managed one by one
- Is your door the right shape
- If the batteries die while you are out
- Before it goes on the door
Five ways in: fingerprint, IC card, code, the Tuya app and a mechanical key. Wi-Fi is built in, so it joins your router on its own with no gateway to buy, and remote unlocking, temporary codes and the record of who opened the door all work out of the box.
Fingerprints, codes and cards are each managed against their own number in the app, which sounds like a detail and is not: it means you can take away the cleaner's code without disturbing anybody else's, and see in the log which one was used.
Three security features are worth knowing about before you buy. Virtual passcode entry lets you pad the real code with junk digits, up to 24 in total, so somebody watching you at the door learns nothing. Auto-locking throws the bolt behind you on a delay you set. And a deadlock function on the inside knob shuts every code and fingerprint out until you release it, which is what you want overnight or when you are away.
If the batteries die while you are out, hold a power bank to the USB port on the outside and it wakes up. There is a mechanical key as well. If your door has a lever handle rather than a bare deadbolt, look at the A290 deadbolt handle lock instead, which is the same idea with handles on both sides.
Three things this smart deadbolt does that cheaper locks do not
Virtual passcode entry lets you pad the real code with junk digits, up to 24 in total, so somebody watching you at the door learns a string that will not work again. Auto-locking throws the bolt behind you on a delay you set. And a deadlock function on the inside knob shuts every code and fingerprint out until you release it, which is what you want overnight or while the house is empty.
A tamper alarm sounds at the door and alerts you in the app if the panel is interfered with.
Five ways in, managed one by one
Fingerprint, IC card, code, the Tuya app and a mechanical key. Fingerprints, codes and cards are each held against their own number in the app, which sounds like a detail and is not: you can remove the cleaner code without disturbing anyone else, and the log tells you which credential opened the door rather than just that it opened.
Wi-Fi is built in, so it joins your router without a gateway, and remote unlocking, temporary codes and the access record all work from the moment it is set up.
Is your door the right shape
This is the American style fitting: a round bore through the door and a bolt that shoots into the frame, with no handle attached. It ships with both 60 and 70 mm backsets in the pack. Door thickness is not published for this unit, so ask us and we will measure the one in stock rather than quote you a figure we cannot stand behind.
If your door has a lever handle rather than a bare bolt, the A290 deadbolt handle lock is the same idea with handles on both sides.
If the batteries die while you are out
Hold a power bank to the USB port on the outside panel and it wakes up long enough to read your finger. There is a mechanical key as well, so there are two ways back in before anybody needs to call a locksmith.
Before it goes on the door
Check the fitting is the American type, a round bore with a bolt into the frame and no handle attached. Both 60 and 70 mm backsets are in the pack. Door thickness is not published for this model, so ask and we will measure the unit in stock rather than send you a number we made up.
Worth setting the deadlock and the auto-lock delay on the day it goes in, since those are the two settings people never come back to. See smart locks for the handled version, and tuya.com for the app.

Questions
Will it fit my door?
It is a deadbolt, so the door needs a round bore through it and a bolt hole in the edge, which is the American style fitting rather than a European mortise. It comes with 60 and 70 mm backsets. Send us a photo of your existing lock from both sides on WhatsApp and we will tell you before you order.
Do I need a hub or a gateway?
No. Wi-Fi is built in, so it joins your router directly and appears in the Tuya app on its own, with remote unlocking, temporary codes and the access log.
How is this different from the A290?
This one is a bare deadbolt: a bolt and a keypad, nothing to hold. The A290 is the same idea with a lever handle above and below the panel, so the door latches and opens on the handle. Choose by what your door needs.
What happens if the batteries die while I am out?
Hold a power bank against the USB port on the outside and it wakes up long enough to let you in. There is a mechanical key as well.
Can I take away one person's access without changing everybody's?
Yes. Every fingerprint, card and code is held against its own number, so you delete the one and leave the rest alone. The log tells you which one opened the door.
Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
