Why a Hue outdoor lightstrip 2m is sealed to IP67
The Hue outdoor lightstrip 2m is sealed the whole way along. Rain, dust and a hosing down are all fine, which is the one thing the indoor Lightstrip Plus cannot survive.
In Dar that matters more than it does in most places. A long rainy season and a strip mounted under a veranda roof are not compatible unless the strip is properly sealed, and an indoor strip put outside will fail in weeks rather than years.
Two metres is two metres
It cannot be cut and it cannot be extended. That is the trade for the sealing: there are no cut points, because a cut point is a hole in the seal.
So measure the run before you order. If the wall is 2.4 metres you either accept the gap or plan the run somewhere it fits. Only the supply cable can be extended, not the lit part.
Where people actually put it
A garden wall, along a step edge, under a pergola, around a pool surround, or up the underside of a veranda roof. Anywhere the fitting itself should not be visible but the light should.
850 lumens at 4000K and 760 at 2700K, with the full 2000K to 6500K white range and 16 million colours. CRI above 80, so planting and paintwork read properly rather than looking washed out.
The Bridge is not optional
Every outdoor Hue light needs a Philips Hue Bridge, and this is no exception. There is no Bluetooth fallback on this product.
Once the Bridge is on your router the strip answers to the Hue app, Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home, and it can run on a schedule so the garden lights itself at dusk.
An honest note about the pack we stock
Our stock is the North American pack, marked in feet and carrying the UL mark rather than the CE mark.
Philips publish a 220 to 240V input for the European power supply and 100 to 120V for the North American one. Check the adapter before you plug it into 230V mains. Ask us and we will read the label on the actual unit in stock and tell you exactly what it says rather than guessing from a datasheet. Philips list the outdoor range at philips-hue.com.

Questions
Will the power supply run on our 230 V mains?
That depends on which pack it is. Philips publishes 220 to 240 V for the European supply and 100 to 120 V for the North American one, and the pack we hold is the North American version. Ask us before you order and we will read the input range printed on the adapter itself.
Can I cut it to length?
No. This strip is sealed for weather, so it has no cut points and no extensions. Measure the run before you buy: two metres is what you get.
Do I need a Hue Bridge?
Yes. Every outdoor Hue light needs one, and Philips says so themselves. We sell the Bridge, so ask us and we will match the two.
Can it go in a pond or a pool?
IP67 covers rain, dust, splashing and a hosing down. It is not made to be left submerged, so keep it out of the water itself.
How do I fix it down?
It is a flexible strip that follows an edge or a corner. Outdoors, on rough render or timber, plan on clips or a channel rather than relying on adhesive in the heat.
