About this product

A Fingerbot button pusher is a tiny robot finger that sticks beside a button and presses it on command, and this listing includes the hub.

Why a Fingerbot button pusher needs the hub

A Fingerbot button pusher on its own is a Bluetooth device with about 15 metres of range. It works when you are in the house and stops when you leave.

This listing includes the hub, and that is what turns it into something usable: control from outside the house, schedules that run whether or not your phone is home, and voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Buying the Fingerbot alone and discovering the limitation afterwards is the commonest disappointment with these devices.

The accessories are what make it fit

Buttons are not standard. Some are recessed, some are flush, some are rockers that need pulling as well as pushing.

In the box: straight arms in three lengths for recessed buttons, a rocker arm for switches, a ring arm, cushion blocks and adhesive pads. That collection is the difference between a device that fits your appliance and one that sits on the shelf because the arm was 3mm too short.

Nothing is opened, wired or drilled

It goes on with adhesive and comes off cleanly, which means it works in a rented house and on an appliance still under warranty where opening the case would void the cover.

At 42 x 34.5 x 34.5mm and about 36g it is smaller than the SwitchBot Bot, which matters on a crowded control panel where there is little clear space beside the button.

Charging rather than batteries

The Fingerbot has a rechargeable cell rated at about nine months at four presses a day, rather than a replaceable coin cell.

That is fewer batteries to buy but one more thing to remember. If you would rather swap a cell every couple of years and never think about charging, the SwitchBot Bot uses a replaceable CR2 rated at up to 600 days.

Force, and one figure published two ways

Adaprox publish 10N for the Plus and 12N for the Pro. We record both because the model naming on these units is not always clear from the packaging, and we would rather you knew the range than a single number that might not be yours.

Either figure is a light press suited to a button or a rocker, not a stiff mechanical switch. It runs in the Tuya or Smart Life app, though Adaprox-branded units use Adaprox Home instead. Adaprox publish the range at adaprox.io.

Questions

Why does it come with a hub?

Because a Fingerbot on its own is Bluetooth and reaches about fifteen metres. The hub puts it on your Wi-Fi, which is what gives you control from outside the house, schedules that run without your phone, and Alexa or Google.

What can it press?

Anything a fingertip presses: a geyser isolator, a coffee machine, an intercom, a computer power button, a wall switch. The arms in the box let it reach recessed buttons and pull rockers back the other way.

Will it mark my wall or void a warranty?

It sticks on with an adhesive pad and lifts off cleanly. Nothing is opened and nothing is wired, which is the whole point of it.

How long does a charge last?

About nine months at four presses a day, on the manufacturer's figure. Heavier use drains it faster.

How is it different from the SwitchBot Bot?

Same job, smaller body, and this listing includes the hub and the accessory arms. The SwitchBot Bot needs a SwitchBot Hub bought separately for the same remote and voice features.
