Smart Lock - Facial Recognition Lock (S937)

A full height facial recognition door lock, push-pull, with 3D face reading, a 2 MP camera, video calling and a screen on the inside panel. Walk up, it reads your face from 50 to 80 cm away and the door is open before you have taken your hands out of your pockets.

The face reader is 3D rather than a flat camera, so a photograph will not open it. There are six ways in: face, fingerprint, code, IC card, the app and a mechanical key. The fingerprint sensor is 500 DPI and matches in 0.6 seconds.

This model runs on your choice of Tuya, Usmart Go or Xhome. Tuya is the one to take if you already have Tuya or Smart Life devices in the house, because the lock then sits in the same app as everything else. Whichever you pick, the app gives you remote unlocking, temporary codes, video calling and real-time monitoring. It holds 300 users, nine of them administrators.

Power is a rechargeable 4,200 mAh lithium battery with a micro USB port for a power bank. The cylinder is Grade C. It fits doors 40 to 120 mm thick on a 6068 mortise, 24 x 240 mm. Gun black is what we stock, and grey and mocha gold are available to order.

How the face reader works

This is a 3D facial recognition door lock rather than a flat camera, which is the distinction that matters: a photograph held up to it will not open the door. It reads at 50 to 80 cm, so the door is open before you have taken your hands out of your pockets, and it reacts in under 0.3 seconds.

The published error rates are a false rejection rate at or below 0.01% and a false recognition rate at or below 0.00004%. Alongside the face there are five more ways in: fingerprint at 500 DPI matching in 0.6 seconds, code on the touchscreen keypad, IC card, the app, and a mechanical key.

The screen, the camera and the app

A 2 MP camera sits in the front panel and a display in the inside panel, so the lock does video calling and real-time monitoring as well as entry. It runs on your choice of Tuya, Usmart Go or Xhome. Take Tuya if you already have Tuya or Smart Life devices, because the lock then sits in the same app as the rest of them.

Whichever app you choose, you get remote unlocking, temporary codes and the entry record. It holds 300 users, nine of whom can be administrators.

It is a full height push-pull lock, 423 mm of panel front and back, and it takes doors from 40 to 120 mm thick, which is a far wider range than a mortise handle lock. The standard mortise is a 6068 at 24 x 240 mm; 6068 in 30 x 240 mm and 30 x 388 mm, and 7068, can be ordered if that is what your door carries.

Power and finishes

A rechargeable 7.4 V, 4,200 mAh lithium battery runs it, with a 5 V micro USB port for a power bank and a low voltage warning at 4.6 V. The cylinder is Grade C and the body aluminium alloy.
