About this product
An Echo Dot desk stand that stands the Dot up instead of leaving it lying flat. A small pedestal that docks an Echo Dot 3rd generation at a 105 degree tilt, so the light ring faces you rather than the ceiling and the speaker fires into the room rather than into the table.

Read this first: it fits the 3rd generation Dot
This Echo Dot desk stand is made for the Echo Dot 3rd generation. The Dots we currently stock are 5th generation and are a different shape, so check which Dot you actually own before ordering. If yours came from us recently it is almost certainly not the one this fits. We would rather say that here than have it arrive and not seat properly.
What an Echo Dot desk stand actually changes
Two things, and both are more noticeable than they sound. The light ring faces you rather than the ceiling, so you can see whether it is listening, thinking or muted without standing over it. And the speaker fires into the room instead of into the desk, which opens the sound up considerably because a small speaker sitting flat on a hard surface loses most of what it has.
It hears you better across a desk
At 105 degrees the microphones are angled towards a person sitting or standing in front of it, rather than at the ceiling. On a desk, where you are close but off to one side and probably typing, that is the difference between being heard first time and repeating yourself.
The grip is the detail
The base holds on a slope of 40 degrees with nothing in it, so a knock on a desk does not send it sliding into a cup of tea. The Dot drops in and lifts out one handed, and the whole thing is light enough to pack when travelling.
Where it suits
Desks, countertops, tables, nightstands and any smooth flat surface. The Dot is not included.
If the Dot needs to come off the surface entirely, there is an Echo Dot wall mount that hides the cable, and an Echo Dot ceiling mount for out of reach. Both are also 3rd generation parts. Wikipedia lists every Echo Dot generation if you need to identify yours.

No. The base grips, and it holds on a 40 degree slope with nothing loaded in it.
Is the Echo Dot included?
No. The stand only.
Can I take it travelling?
Yes. It is light and it packs flat enough to go in a bag.
