About this product

An automatic fish feeder that feeds the tank while you are away. The drum turns at the times you set and a measured amount of food drops in.

What an automatic fish feeder solves

Going away for a week with a fish tank means asking a neighbour to come round, and neighbours are generous. A tank fed by somebody who thinks a pinch looks small goes cloudy within days, and cloudy water is harder on fish than a few light days would have been.

An automatic fish feeder drops a measured amount at a set time and does not improvise. That consistency is the point rather than the convenience.

How it mounts

An adjustable screw clamp holds it on the aquarium rim, and it fits the rim of most glass tanks.

Double sided tape is supplied for tanks it will not clamp to, which covers rimless tanks and hoods with an awkward lip. Fit it before you need it rather than the night before a trip, so you can watch a feed happen and adjust the portion.

Setting the portion

The drum holds about 170ml, which is weeks of food for a normal tank, and the outlet slides open and shut so the portion is set once and left.

Set it small and watch a feed. Uneaten food is what fouls water, so the correct portion is the one that is gone in a couple of minutes with nothing settling on the gravel. It handles flake, pellet, granule and small stick food.

Where it lives

The body is ABS and it measures about 135 x 65 x 55mm, so it sits on the rim without dominating a small tank.

Keep the drum somewhere the tank's own humidity cannot reach it if you can, because damp food clumps and a clumped drum will not turn. That is the one failure worth designing around on any tank feeder.

Two versions, and we will tell you which is in stock

iLONDA sell this feeder in more than one version. A battery model runs on two AA cells for about three months and feeds on a fixed cycle. A USB powered model has an app.

The number of feeds a day depends on which version you get. Ask us before ordering if that matters and we will read it off the unit in stock rather than quoting a spec that may not be yours. If you want a feeder you can watch remotely, the WiFi pet feeder with camera does that for a dog or a cat, though not for a tank. General guidance on feeding intervals is worth reading on any fishkeeping reference before you set a schedule.

Questions

How long can I leave the tank?

The drum holds about 170 ml, which for a normal community tank is weeks of food rather than days. The limit is usually the water, not the feeder.

Will it fit my tank?

The bracket is an adjustable screw clamp made for a glass rim, and double sided tape is supplied for tanks it cannot clamp onto. Send us a photograph of your rim if you are unsure.

Can I control the portion?

Yes. The outlet slides open and shut, so you set how much drops each time and leave it. Set it small and watch for a day before you go away.

Does it take flakes or pellets?

Both, along with granules and small sticks. Very fine powder food tends to clog any feeder of this type.

Does it run on batteries or USB?

iLONDA make it both ways. Ask us before you order and we will read it off the unit in stock, because the battery version and the app version set their feeding times differently.

Anything else? Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight.
