About this product
The Fibaro Swipe is a gesture pad. Move your hand in front of it and the house answers: up, down, left, right, and circles in either direction, with sequences of gestures on top for the things you want to be deliberate about.

Where a Fibaro Swipe earns its place
Anywhere your hands are not free or not clean. A kitchen where you are up to the wrists in something and the light needs to come on. A workshop. A bathroom. Beside a bed, where a wave in roughly the right direction beats finding a switch in the dark. A door you come through carrying shopping. In all of those the value is not that gestures are clever, it is that touching anything is the problem.
Six gestures, and sequences on top
Up, down, left, right, and a circle in either direction. Six instructions to your hub from one pad, and gestures can be combined into sequences for the things you want to be deliberate about, so opening a gate is not one careless wave. The hub decides what each gesture means, and you can change any of it without going near the wall.
It tells you the gesture registered
A buzzer and an LED confirm every recognised gesture. That sounds minor and is the single feature that decides whether a gesture controller works in practice, because the failure mode of every other one is standing in a doorway waving repeatedly at a blank panel with no idea whether it heard you.
The menu is driven by gestures too
Settings are changed by waving at it, so the unit never has to come off the wall to be reconfigured. It runs on four AA batteries, included, or on 5 V DC through the Micro USB socket if you would rather leave it permanently powered, which is what most people do once it is somewhere awkward to reach.
What it needs
A Z-Wave controller, not included. It works with any Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus controller, and we stock three: the Fibaro Home Center Lite, the Fibaro Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro. Encryption is AES-128 and the finish is white.
If touching a pad is acceptable, the Aeotec WallMote Touch costs less and adds a swipe to dim. Fibaro publish the Swipe at fibaro.com.

Do I need a hub?
Yes. It is a Z-Wave device and needs a Z-Wave controller. It is not in the box.
What gestures does it read?
A hand moved up, down, left or right in front of the pad, and circles in either direction. Gestures can also be combined into sequences.
How do I know it worked?
A buzzer and an LED confirm every gesture it accepts.
How is it powered?

Do I have to take it down to change a setting?
No. The menu is driven by gestures, so it is configured where it hangs.
