About this product
The Aeotec WallMote Touch is a four zone touch pad that goes on the wall and runs on a battery. No wiring, no back box, no electrician. A switch appears beside the bed or at the top of the stairs wherever you decide to put it.

The Aeotec WallMote Touch puts a switch where there is no wiring
No back box, no chasing a wall, no electrician and no cable. It runs on a battery and sticks where you decide, which means a light switch can appear beside the bed on the side that never had one, at the top of the stairs, next to a sofa, or by a door that opens the wrong way. In an existing house that is often the only way to fix a switch position that was decided badly forty years ago.
Swipe is a real dimming gesture
Each of the four zones reads a tap, a press and hold, a swipe up and a swipe down. The swipe is the one that matters: you run a finger along the pad and the light follows, rather than pressing a button repeatedly and waiting. It is the difference between dimming that people actually use and dimming that people give up on after a week.
Eight scene IDs from four zones
Four zones with two actions each gives the hub eight separate instructions, and the hub decides what each one does. One pad can therefore cover the room lights, the veranda, a fan and a whole goodnight scene, without anybody having to remember which of eight identical buttons is which, because the pad is divided into four obvious quarters.
Charging and size
76.8 mm square and 10.9 mm thick, so it reads as a switch plate rather than as a gadget stuck to a wall. The cell is a rechargeable 640 mAh lithium topped up over Micro USB, and Aeotec quote about three months at ten presses a day, which is a realistic figure for a bedside pad.
What it needs
A Z-Wave controller, not included. We hold three that will run it: the Fibaro Home Center Lite, the Fibaro Home Center 2 and the Homey Pro.

Do I need a hub?
Yes. It is a Z-Wave device and needs a Z-Wave controller. It is not in the box.
Does it need wiring?
No. It runs on a battery and mounts on the wall surface, so you can put a switch where there has never been one.
How does the dimming work?
Swipe up or down on a zone. The pad sends a swipe as its own action, so the hub can ramp a dimmer rather than step it.
How long does a charge last?
Aeotec rate it at about three months at ten presses a day. It charges over Micro USB.
How many scenes can it run?
