What the indicator light on a Zigbee touch switch gold can do

Two different jobs, and you pick. Leave it lit permanently and the switch is findable by feel and by eye in a dark corridor, which is what most people want at the top of a staircase. Or set it to show which way the circuit is currently thrown, so the plate tells you at a glance whether the outside light is on without walking outside. Most switches force one behaviour; this one asks.

Gold is a decision about the fittings, not the wall

Rooms with brass door handles, warm brass taps, gold picture frames or a brass light fitting have a metal running through them, and a white plate is the one thing in the room ignoring it. Gold glass picks that up. It is a stronger choice than white or black and it wants the rest of the room to be doing the same thing, so look at the handles before ordering.

Four ecosystems, including HomeKit

Tuya, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. That is a wider spread than most switches at this price, and it means the plate is not a dead end if the household changes its mind about which speaker it prefers in two years.

Zigbee, and what it gives back

It draws a fraction of what a Wi-Fi switch does and stays off your router entirely. Because it is mains powered it also repeats the signal for every other Zigbee device around it, so each one fitted makes the sensors and relays nearby more reliable.
