A Zigbee touch switch black on this platform works with Tuya, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. HomeKit is the one worth noticing, because most inexpensive switches skip it entirely and an iPhone household then finds its lighting is the only thing not in the Home app. If the house runs on Apple, that single line is the reason to choose this over a cheaper plate.
The Zigbee touch switch black, and where it belongs
Against dark timber, a charcoal wall, dark stone or a black kitchen, a white plate is the loudest object in the room. Black recedes into the wall and the lit touch points read clearly against it after dark, so it is easier to find at night as well as easier to look at during the day.
The indicator light is yours to set
Leave it lit so the switch is findable in a dark corridor, or set it to show which way the circuit is currently thrown. Those are two genuinely different jobs and most switches force one on you. On black glass the lit indicator has more contrast to work with, which makes the find-me-in-the-dark mode particularly effective here.
Every switch strengthens the mesh
It is mains powered, so it repeats Zigbee for every sensor, lock and relay around it. Fit several through a house and the network gets more reliable as it grows, which is the opposite of what happens when you fill a router with Wi-Fi switches.
What it needs
A Zigbee 3.0 gateway, not included, and a neutral wire at the switch box. Have your electrician confirm the neutral before you order, because older wiring here often runs only the live and the switched live to the plate. We stock the Tuya Zigbee gateway and the IR blaster version.
