A Zigbee push switch with a real rocker rather than a glass panel. Zigbee is the reason to choose it: it uses very little power, it keeps your router free, and because it is mains powered it repeats the signal for every other Zigbee device in the house.

Why a Zigbee push switch beats a Wi-Fi one in a big house

Two reasons. It draws very little and leaves your router alone, so ten of them do not turn your network into a queue. And because it is mains powered it repeats the Zigbee signal for everything else, so each switch you fit makes the sensors, locks and relays around it more reliable. Wi-Fi switches take from the network; Zigbee switches give back to it.

A real rocker, for the people who want one

It presses and it clicks. Not everybody in a house is enthusiastic about glass panels, and a rocker needs no explaining to a guest, a grandparent or a child, and works with an elbow or a wet hand coming out of a bathroom. The smart part is behind it, so nothing about the interface changes for the people who never open the app.

One, two or three gang

Made in all three, so tell us how many circuits the plate has to cover. Count the buttons on the switch you are replacing rather than the lamps in the room; two lamps on one switch is still one gang.

The app side

It joins Smart Life through a Zigbee gateway, answers Alexa and Google Assistant, and takes timers and schedules so a light can run itself at dusk without anybody touching it. The rocker still works normally throughout, which is the point of a smart switch rather than a smart bulb.

What it needs

A Zigbee gateway, not included, and a neutral wire at the switch box. We stock the Tuya Zigbee gateway and the version with an IR blaster and Bluetooth.
