What an RF wireless remote pairs with

Anything that has a 433 MHz receiver in it, and in a typical house that is more than people expect: an RF relay behind a light, a gate receiver, a curtain or roller motor, an RF wall receiver. The remote is taught to each one separately, so a single four button fob can end up carrying the gate on A, the veranda light on B and the curtains on C and D.

The 1527 learning code is why it is so widely compatible

1527 is the common format across cheap RF gear, which is what allows one remote to be taught to receivers from several different makers. It is also the reason to be honest about what this is: a simple learning code, not an encrypted rolling code. It is right for lights, fans and curtains, and it is not the technology you would choose to be the only thing between the street and your compound.

No app, no account, no internet

Press the button, the receiver hears it, the load switches. Nothing passes through a router, a server or an account, so nothing about it stops working when the line goes down, when a password expires, or when an app is discontinued. For a lot of jobs that is worth more than any feature list.

The battery is the one thing to plan for

A 23A 12 V cell, not included, which is not a battery most kiosks carry. Buy a spare with the remote rather than discovering that in a year. Range is around 50 m in the open, and it comes with screws and adhesive tape so it hangs by a door or lives loose in a drawer.
