About this product

A dual camera video doorbell, and the second camera is the reason it exists. A 2K lens looks forward at your visitor and a second 1080p lens looks down at the step, so you see the caller and whatever they left on the ground.

Everything is stored in your house and there is nothing to subscribe to, which is the real difference between this and a Ring doorbell, where recorded video sits behind a paid plan.

Why a dual camera video doorbell beats a single lens

A normal doorbell points at face height. Stand a courier in front of it and you get a torso and a chin, and the box he put down is out of frame entirely. The lower 1080p camera on this dual camera video doorbell looks straight down at the step, so the parcel is on the recording whether it was left, moved or taken.

If your deliveries end up on the ground at the gate rather than in somebody's hands, that second lens is the whole reason to buy this model rather than a cheaper one.

Two sensors, so the wind stops waking you

Motion is judged by a passive infrared sensor and a radar sensor working together, rather than by heat alone. That combination is what separates a person walking up the path from a branch moving behind them, and eufy put the reduction in false alerts at 95 per cent.

Anyone who has owned a cheap motion camera in a compound with trees knows why this matters. Alerts you ignore are the same as no alerts at all.

Delivery Guard, and how much to expect from it

Delivery Guard watches for a parcel being set down, tells you it has arrived, reminds you later if you have not brought it in, and warns you if somebody approaches it.

eufy still label the feature experimental, and we are passing that on rather than selling it as finished. Treat it as a useful extra on top of the second camera, not as the reason you are buying.

The HomeBase is in the box, and it is not optional

The white HomeBase 2 holds 16GB of encrypted video in your hallway. No monthly fee, ever, and no version of this product where a payment unlocks the recording.

eufy also sell this same doorbell as a cheaper add-on for people who already own a HomeBase, and that version does not work on its own. Ours is the full kit. If you are comparing against a price online that looks too good, check whether a base station is in that box.

Before you order: two things to check

It joins 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, so if your router broadcasts one combined network name you may need to split the bands during setup. And decide on power: the battery runs about six months at ten events a day, or you can wire it to existing doorbell wiring at 8 to 24V if the house has any.

If the step view is not something you need, the S220 gives you the same 2K forward camera and the same HomeBase for less. Full specifications are published by eufy.

Questions

Why two cameras?

The top one is a 2K camera at face height, which is what every video doorbell has. The second is a 1080p camera angled down at your step. That is the one that shows you the parcel on the ground, or the box somebody is walking away with. If deliveries are left at your gate, it is the reason to choose this over a single-camera doorbell.

Is there a monthly fee?

No, and there never is. Video is stored on the HomeBase in the box, 16 GB of it, encrypted and sitting in your house rather than on somebody's server. This is the main practical difference between eufy and Ring: a Ring doorbell will not save you a single clip without a paid plan.

Is the HomeBase really included?

Yes, this is the full kit. It matters because eufy also sell the same doorbell as a cheaper add-on for people who already own a HomeBase, and that version does not work on its own. If you find this doorbell advertised somewhere for much less, check whether the base station is in that box.

Does it need existing doorbell wiring?

No. It runs on its own battery, around six months at ten events a day, and you take it down to charge. If your house does happen to have doorbell wiring at 8 to 24 volts you can wire it in and stop thinking about charging altogether, but most homes here will run it on battery.

Will it join my Wi-Fi?

Only on 2.4 GHz. Like almost all security kit it ignores 5 GHz networks. If your router broadcasts one combined name for both bands, you may need to split them or temporarily disable 5 GHz to get through setup. Ask us if you get stuck, this is the most common snag with any of these.
