About this product
The Ring Chime is a small speaker that plugs into a socket and rings when somebody presses your Ring doorbell. That is the whole job, and it is a more useful one than it sounds.

- It needs a Ring device, and it does nothing on its own
- One in the hallway, one upstairs
- What it is not
- One thing to check before you order
What the Ring Chime is for
A Ring doorbell, on its own, rings your phone and nothing else. That is fine until the phone is charging in the bedroom, sitting face down on a table, or on silent because you were in a meeting, and somebody stands at your gate for five minutes.
Plug one of these into a socket in the hallway and the house hears the door the way it would with an ordinary bell. For most Ring owners it is the accessory that turns the doorbell from a phone notification into something the whole household benefits from.
It needs a Ring device, and it does nothing on its own
This is an accessory, not a doorbell. There is no camera in it, no microphone, and no function whatsoever until it is paired to a Ring video doorbell or Ring camera through the Ring app.
If you do not own a Ring device yet, this is not where to start. The Ring Video Doorbell is the product to look at first, and the chime is what you add to it afterwards.
One in the hallway, one upstairs
Setup is plugging it in and adding it in the app. You can pair as many as you like to one doorbell, so a two-storey house or a long compound can have a chime at each end and hear the gate from anywhere in it.
Volume is set in the app, there are several tones to choose from including seasonal ones, and there is a do not disturb mode for when you want the house quiet.
What it is not
It does not extend your Wi-Fi. That is the Chime Pro, which is a different product, and it is worth being clear about because the two are often confused online.
It also holds no recordings and changes nothing about your Ring Protect plan. It rings. That is the product.
One thing to check before you order
Which plug adapters are in the box depends on the market the unit was packed for. Ring supply UK, EU, US and Australian adapters depending on destination, and Tanzania uses UK-style sockets.
If that matters to you, ask us to confirm what is in the carton before you order and we will physically look rather than guess. Pairs with either finish of doorbell, the Venetian Bronze or the Satin Nickel. Ring publish the product details at ring.com.

Questions
What does it actually do?
It rings. When somebody presses your Ring doorbell, this plays a chime in the room it is plugged into. Without one, a Ring doorbell only notifies your phone, which is no use if the phone is in another room or on silent.
Does it work on its own?
No. It is an accessory: it has no camera and no microphone and it pairs to a Ring doorbell or Ring camera through the app. If you do not already have a Ring device, or are not buying one, this will not do anything. Look at our doorbells instead and we will help you pick.
Can I have more than one?
Yes, as many as you like on one doorbell. One in the hallway and one upstairs is a common arrangement in a house where the bell would otherwise go unheard.
Will the plug fit our sockets?
It plugs into a normal socket, and Ring pack it with different adapters depending on which market the unit was made for, including UK style. Which ones are actually in a given carton depends on where it came from, so ask us and we will open the box and look before you order.
Is this the one that boosts Wi-Fi?
No, that is the Ring Chime Pro, which is a bigger unit with a night light and a Wi-Fi extender built in. This is the plain Chime: it makes a sound, and that is all it claims to do.
