About this product

The eufy Video Doorbell S220 is the middle of the three we stock, and the most flexible of them. A 2K camera on a Sony sensor, a HomeBase in the box that keeps every recording inside your house, and the choice of running it on a battery or wiring it in.

The eufy Video Doorbell S220 runs on battery or mains

The eufy Video Doorbell S220 will run on its own battery, rated at 180 days, and come down every few months for a charge. Or, if the house has doorbell wiring behind the frame, wire it in and stop thinking about the battery altogether. Extension wires for the wired option are supplied.

Very few houses in Dar have doorbell wiring. If yours is one of them, this is the eufy that can use it, and that is the practical reason to choose it over the cheaper C210.

2K on a Sony sensor, in a 4:3 frame

The forward camera records 2560 by 1920, which is enough to read a face rather than guess at one, and the sensor is a Sony part rather than a generic one.

The frame is 4:3 rather than widescreen, which on a doorbell is the more useful shape. It is taller, so you get a caller head to toe and whatever is sitting at their feet, instead of a wide strip across their chest.

The HomeBase is included, and it is required

The white HomeBase 2 in the box holds 16GB of AES-256 encrypted recordings in your hallway. There is no monthly fee and no version of this doorbell where a payment unlocks the recording.

eufy also sell this exact doorbell as a cheaper add-on for people who already own a base station, and that version will not work by itself. Ours is the full kit. If you see the same model advertised far cheaper elsewhere, check what is actually in that box before you order it.

Detection that runs on the device

Motion detection, human detection and activity zones all run on the doorbell itself rather than in a cloud. Human detection keeps the dog and the wind out of your notifications. Activity zones let you draw a box around the gate and ignore the road behind it.

The unit is rated IP65 and joins 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only. The HomeBase doubles as the indoor chime, and an Amazon Echo can be used as one as well.

Where the S220 sits in the range

It is the middle one, and the most flexible. Cheaper than the dual camera model, better specified than the entry one, and the only eufy doorbell we stock that gives you the choice between battery and mains.

If nobody in the house cares about 2K or wiring, the C210 does the same job for less and comes with its own plug-in chime. If parcels get left on the ground at your gate, the S330 dual camera adds a second lens pointed at the step. eufy list all three on their doorbell page.

Questions

Which of your three eufy doorbells should I buy?

If deliveries get left at your gate, the S330 with its second downward camera. If you want the simplest and cheapest, the C210, but remember it is battery only and needs a memory card you buy separately. This S220 sits in the middle: 2K rather than 1080p, storage on a HomeBase with no card to buy, and the only one of the three you can wire in permanently.

Is there a monthly fee?

No, and there is no version of this where one appears. The HomeBase in the box holds 16 GB of encrypted recordings in your house. Compare that with a Ring doorbell, which shows you live video for free but will not save a single clip unless you pay for a plan.

Is the HomeBase really included?

Yes, this is the full kit. Worth checking because eufy sell this same doorbell as a cheaper add-on for people who already own a base station, and that one does not work on its own. If you see it advertised elsewhere for much less, look at what is in the box.

Can I wire it in instead of charging it?

Yes, and it is the only one of our three eufy doorbells that can. If the house has doorbell wiring, the extension wires in the box let you connect it and stop worrying about the battery. If it does not, the battery is rated at 180 days, so it is a couple of times a year off the wall.

Will it join my Wi-Fi?

Only on 2.4 GHz. Almost all security kit is the same. If your router broadcasts one name for both bands you may need to split them or turn 5 GHz off long enough to finish setup. It is the most common snag with any of these, so message us if it will not connect.
