What a 400ml aroma diffuser gives you over a 300ml

The 400ml aroma diffuser is the largest of the three we stock, and the difference is unattended running time. Six to twelve hours depending on the setting, which means you fill it before bed and it is still going when you wake up.

Output runs 30 to 80 millilitres an hour, higher than the smaller models at both ends, so it also fills a larger sitting room rather than just scenting the area around itself.

A tall vase rather than a teardrop

It stands 225mm in a wood-grain vase shape, and it weighs 450g empty, so it reads as a piece of furniture rather than a gadget. That height is worth checking against wherever you plan to put it, because it is noticeably taller than the 300ml models.

The shell is BPA-free PP and ABS. A small water can for filling it comes in the box alongside the adapter, which sounds like a trivial inclusion until you try to fill a 400ml tank from a bathroom tap.

Filling it once and leaving it

This is the one to buy if the diffuser is going to run unattended: a sitting room during the day, a bedroom overnight, a reception area during opening hours.

It shuts itself off when the water runs out rather than running the ultrasonic plate dry, so a tank that finishes at four in the morning is not a problem. The mist is cool, with no heating element, so there is nothing hot in the room either.

Light, timers and voice control

Seven LED colours behind the shell, brightness adjustable, holding one shade or cycling slowly. At the lowest setting it is a night light; higher up it is the only lamp a bedside table needs.

Timers at 1, 3 and 6 hours, full scheduling in the Smart Life app, and voice control through Alexa or Google Home. It joins 2.4GHz Wi-Fi directly, so there is no hub in the picture.

Bigger tank, or a smaller one

Take the 400ml if it is running unattended for long stretches, or if the room is a large one. The extra tank is the whole point and the taller body is the cost of it.

For a bedside table or a desk, the 300ml wood-grain is smaller, cheaper and doubles as a cool mist humidifier, and the gloss black version is the one for a dark room. Voice control on all three runs through Google Home or Alexa.
