What a 300ml aroma diffuser gets you through

Three hundred millilitres is six to twelve hours depending on which mist setting you use, so on low it will see out a night and on high it will scent a sitting room in minutes and then keep it there for most of an evening.

It is the right size for a bedside table, a desk or a bathroom shelf. A bigger tank matters when you want it running unattended all day; for a room you are actually in, this is the size that gets refilled without becoming a chore.

It is also a small humidifier

The mist is water, and the oil is a few drops on top of it, so with nothing added at all this puts moisture back into a room. In a bedroom or an office with the air conditioning running all day, that is worth having on its own.

Output runs 25 to 50 millilitres an hour. It will not humidify a whole house and it is not sold as a machine that does, but in one closed room with the AC on it makes a difference you can feel.

The wood-grain finish, and where it belongs

The shell is a pale wood-grain teardrop, which is the finish that disappears into a bedroom, a nursery or a room with wooden furniture in it.

Underneath it is the same hardware as the gloss black version. If your room is dark or the diffuser is going on a desk full of electronics, the black one is the better-looking choice and nothing else changes.

Seven colours, timers and voice

Seven LED colours sit behind the shell with the brightness adjustable, either holding one shade or cycling slowly. Turned right down it works as a night light for a child's room.

Timers run at 1, 3 or 6 hours, schedules run in the Smart Life app, and Alexa or Google Home will turn it on by voice. The ultrasonic mist is cool, so there is no heating element and nothing to burn, and it shuts off by itself when the water is gone.

Choosing between the three

Take this one for a bedroom or any room with wood in it, and for the humidifier side of it. Take the gloss black version if the room is dark or it is going on a desk. Take the 400ml model if you want to fill it once and forget about it for longer.
