Two separate circuits switched from one plate, not two lamps on one circuit. The commonest case in a sitting room here is the ceiling light on one and the wall lights or the veranda on the other, both meeting at one back box. Count the buttons on the plate you are taking off, not the bulbs in the room: a WiFi touch switch 2 gang replaces a two button plate and nothing else.

Each gang is its own device in the app

This is what makes two gangs worth more than twice one gang. In the Smart Life app the two circuits appear separately, so the veranda can be on a dusk to dawn schedule while the ceiling light is on a scene, and Alexa can be told to turn off just one of them. Scenes are where it stops being a novelty

One tap that puts the ceiling light off and the wall lights to evening, or a routine that does it at a set time. That is the point at which people stop thinking of it as a phone controlled switch and start using it. Both gangs can sit in the same scene alongside plugs, bulbs and sensors elsewhere in the house.

The wiring question

It needs a neutral at the back box, like every mains powered smart switch, because it has to keep itself alive when both circuits are off. Plenty of older wiring here brings only the live and the switched live to the plate. Have the plate taken off and checked before ordering, not after.

What to confirm before ordering

The number of buttons on the existing plate, and whether there is a neutral behind it. A photograph of the open back box answers both and we will look at it with you.
