Customizable Screen Touch Switch – Tuya Zigbee

Why a Zigbee touch switch with screen solves an old problem

Every glass touch switch ever made has the same flaw: identical illuminated dots that mean nothing to anybody except the person who fitted them. Stickers fall off, a marker pen looks terrible, and when a room changes use the labels are wrong anyway. Here you type Kitchen, Balcony or Stairs into the Tuya app and the word appears on the glass. It is the obvious fix and remarkably few switches do it.

The proximity sensor is the half nobody mentions

A screen you cannot read in the dark is no better than a dot. This one has a proximity sensor that wakes the display as you walk towards it, so the names are lit and readable before your hand arrives. In a corridor at night that is the difference between a labelled switch and a labelled switch you still have to guess at.

Backlight you can set to the room

Five colours: red, blue, green, white and yellow, with brightness anywhere from zero to a hundred percent in the app. Zero matters as much as a hundred: a bedroom plate can be turned off completely at night and still light up when you approach it, which fixed brightness panels cannot do.

The build, and the size

2.5D arc glass with an anti fingerprint coating, which is a sensible choice on a panel people touch all day, on a flame retardant housing tested past 100,000 presses. It is the standard EU 86 by 86 size, so it drops into the hole a square switch came out of without any making good.

What it needs

A Tuya Zigbee hub, not included, and a neutral wire at the switch box. We sell the Tuya Zigbee gateway and the version with an IR blaster. Have your electrician confirm the neutral before ordering.
