This is the reason to choose the Spot over any of the Show displays. It is going on a bedside table, and a bedside table is the one surface in the house where a camera is a conversation nobody wants to have with themselves at midnight. There is no lens, so there is nothing to tape over, nothing to disable and nothing to explain to a guest sleeping in the room.
A screen for the things worth glancing at
Time, weather, the song playing, a timer counting down. Not a browser, not video calls, not a shopping catalogue. The restraint is deliberate and it is what makes it a good clock rather than a small tablet that happens to sit by your bed. The clock face is yours to choose, with colours to match the room.
The speaker underneath is the surprise
Front firing, with real bass and clear vocals, which is not what people expect from something sold as an alarm clock. Waking up, and going to sleep

Where it belongs
Bedside first, then a desk or a kitchen counter. It controls compatible smart devices by voice or on the screen, has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and carries a button that cuts the microphones. Black is the version that vanishes on a dark table or against a dark wall.

Does it have a camera?
No. That is deliberate and it is the reason many people choose the Spot for a bedroom.
How is it different from an Echo Show?
The Show has a full video screen and a camera for video calls. The Spot has a small display for the time and what is playing, and no camera. The Spot is a bedside device; the Show is a kitchen or desk device.
Can it wake me gradually?
Yes. Build an Alexa routine that starts music quietly and brings compatible lights up at the same time.
Can I change the clock face?
Yes, and the colour with it. Ask Alexa or set it on the screen.
What plug does it come with?
