About this product
The Amazon Echo (4th Gen) is a spherical smart speaker with an integrated smart home hub. Audio is driven by a 3.0-inch (76.2 mm) neodymium woofer paired with two 0.8-inch (20 mm) tweeters, engineered to direct sound upward and fill the room while automatically tuning to room acoustics.
Built-in Smart Home Hub
The Echo integrates Zigbee, Matter, Thread Border Router, and Amazon Sidewalk radios directly into the hardware. Compatible Zigbee smart bulbs, sensors, and smart plugs pair straight to the speaker without requiring a separate manufacturer bridge or gateway. Matter and Thread support allows interoperability across supported cross-brand smart home hardware.
Voice Assistant and Automation
With Amazon Alexa built in, users can play music, manage schedules, make voice calls, broadcast house-wide announcements, and trigger Alexa Routines. An integrated internal temperature sensor enables automated routine triggers, such as operating smart plugs or fans when ambient room temperatures shift.
Connectivity and Controls
Network connectivity is handled via dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, alongside Bluetooth supporting A2DP for streaming, AVRCP for control, and BLE Mesh. Physical controls on top of the sphere provide volume adjustment, action initiation, and a dedicated microphone-off button that electrically disconnects the microphones, lighting an LED ring red at the base. The rear panel includes the power input and a 3.5 mm audio line connection.
