About this product
The Sensibo Sky is the cheaper of the two Sensibo controllers we stock, and for most households in Dar it is the sensible one. It is a small dark box that sits where it can see your air conditioner's indoor unit, learns the infrared codes from the remote you already have, and then sends them on command from your phone.

That turns any remote-controlled air conditioner into one you can switch on from the car, put on a seven-day schedule, or set to start cooling the bedroom when your phone gets within a kilometre of the house. It also stops the remote being a single point of failure, which matters more than people expect once a remote has gone missing for a week.
It works with split units, window units and portables, whatever the brand, because it copies your own remote rather than relying on a fixed list. Nothing is wired and nothing is opened, so the air conditioner's warranty is untouched.
The one thing the Sky does not have is Apple HomeKit. If your house runs on iPhones and you want the air conditioner to appear in the Apple Home app, you need the Sensibo Air instead, which we also stock. Otherwise the two are near enough identical: the same temperature and humidity sensor, the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the same app, the same infrared, the same free features. The Sky is simply the wider, older-shaped body without the Apple certificate.
The everyday features are free and stay free: remote control from anywhere, schedules, timers, geofencing, sharing with the family and voice control through Alexa or Google. Sensibo sells an optional plan on top with extras like a boost mode and an anti-mould drying cycle. The unit is not crippled without it.
How the Sensibo Sky AC controller works
It copies your own remote. The Sensibo Sky AC controller learns the infrared codes your handset sends, then fires the same codes on command, which is why it does not care what brand the air conditioner is or how old it is. Split, window, portable or heat pump: if it has an infrared remote, this drives it.
Nothing is wired and nothing is opened, so the warranty on the air conditioner is untouched. What it does need is line of sight to the indoor unit, exactly like the remote in your hand, so it goes on a shelf or sticks to a wall facing the unit rather than behind a cupboard door.
What you can do once it is in
Switch the air conditioner on from the car, put it on a seven-day schedule, or have it start cooling the bedroom when your phone crosses a geofence on the way home. There is a temperature and humidity sensor in the box, so schedules can react to the room rather than only to the clock.
It also removes the remote as a single point of failure, which matters more than people expect once a handset has been missing for a week.
Sky or Air
The one thing the Sky does not have is Apple HomeKit. If the house runs on iPhones and you want the air conditioner in the Apple Home app, the Sensibo Air is the one to take and we stock it.

Power is 5 V, 1 A over micro USB with the adapter supplied, and it joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly. It will not join a 5 GHz network, so check which band your router is handing out.
Sky or Air, and how to get one
If nobody in the house is on an iPhone, take the Sky and put the difference towards something else. If you want the air conditioner in the Apple Home app, it has to be the Air. That is the only decision to make here. Everything else about the two is the same.

Questions
Should I buy this or the Sensibo Air?
Buy the Sky unless you need Apple HomeKit. That is the real difference. Both have the same temperature and humidity sensor, the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the same app, the same infrared and the same free features. The Air adds HomeKit certification and a smaller square body, and costs more for it. On Android, or with Alexa or Google, the Sky does everything the Air does.
Will it work with my air conditioner?
Almost certainly, as long as the AC came with an infrared remote. Sensibo learns the codes from your own remote, so the brand does not matter. An air conditioner with only buttons on the body and no remote is the one case it cannot help with.
Do I have to pay a monthly fee?
No. Remote control from anywhere, seven-day schedules, timers, geofencing, family sharing and voice control are all free. Sensibo sells an optional plan for extras like a boost mode and an anti-mould drying cycle, but the unit works fully without it.
Where do I put it?
Somewhere it can see the indoor unit, because it sends infrared exactly like the remote in your hand. A shelf or the opposite wall works. Inside a cupboard or behind a curtain does not.
Does it need an electrician?
No. It plugs into an ordinary socket with the supplied USB adapter and sits on a surface. Nothing is wired into the air conditioner, so the warranty is untouched.
