About this product

A wall thermostat for a boiler: it reads the room temperature, decides when heat is needed, and closes a contact to tell the boiler to fire. Three touch buttons under a black LCD, mode and up and down, with the room temperature and the set point shown side by side. It joins your Wi-Fi directly with no hub, so schedules, remote control and voice come through the Smart Life or Tuya app with Alexa and Google Home on top.

The scheduling is the part people actually use: six periods a day on a five plus one plus one week, so weekdays and each weekend day can differ. Set it once and the boiler stops running at four in the morning for nobody.

A correction to the old description on this page. The supplier copy claimed 16 amps. That belongs to the electric floor-heating version of a near-identical looking thermostat, not to this one. This is the boiler variant, and a boiler thermostat is a low-current control device: it sends a signal, it does not carry the heating load. The manufacturer is not consistent about the exact figure, which we have set out below rather than picked a side on, but both figures agree that it is a small number. Do not size a heating element against 16 amps on the strength of the old text.

It needs a neutral at the switch position, and it is a hard-wired device in an 86 mm back box, so it belongs to an electrician.

Questions

The old description said 16 amps. Was that right?

No. Sixteen amps belongs to the electric floor-heating version of a thermostat that looks almost the same on the wall. This is the boiler variant, which sends a control signal rather than carrying the heating load, and its rating is a small number: the manufacturer's manual says 3 A and the manufacturer's own website says 5 A. We have printed both rather than pick one. What matters is that it is nowhere near 16 A, so please do not size anything against the old text.

Can I use it to switch a geyser directly?

No. This is a control thermostat, not a load switch. For an electric water heater you want one of our heater switches, which are rated to carry the current. Ask us and we will match the switch to the element.

Does it need a hub?

No. It joins your Wi-Fi directly on 2.4 GHz and runs through the Smart Life or Tuya app, with Alexa and Google Home available. Nothing else to buy.

What does the scheduling actually do?

Six periods a day across a five plus one plus one week, so weekdays, Saturday and Sunday can each be different. In practice it means the boiler warms the house before you get up and stops bothering when the house is empty, without anybody touching it.

Does it need a neutral wire?

Yes. Plenty of older wiring in Dar brings only live and switched-live to the switch position with no neutral in the box. If that is what you have, a neutral needs pulling through before this will power up. Worth checking before you order.
