About this product
Most air conditioners in Dar are split units with an infrared remote, and the remote is the weak point. It gets lost, the batteries die, and there is no way to switch the unit on before you get home. The Sensibo Air AC controller replaces that remote with your phone. It is a small square puck that sits on a shelf or sticks to the wall where it can see the indoor unit, learns your existing remote's infrared codes, and then fires them on command from the app, from a schedule, or when your phone crosses a geofence on the way home.
- Why HomeKit is the reason to choose the Air
- The Sensibo Air AC controller fits what you already own
- Schedules, geofencing and the sensor
- What is free and what is not
- Worth paying more for
Because it works over infrared it fits almost any air conditioner you already own, split or window or portable, without touching the wiring or the warranty. It also does not care what brand the AC is. What it does need is line of sight to the indoor unit, the same as the remote in your hand.
The Air is the model with Apple HomeKit. That is the main reason to choose it over the cheaper Sensibo Sky we also stock, which is otherwise near enough the same device: same sensors, same Wi-Fi, same app, same infrared. If nobody in the house uses an iPhone, the Sky will do the same job for less.
One thing to know before you buy: the useful everyday features are free and stay free. Remote control from anywhere, seven-day schedules, timers, geofencing, sharing with the family and voice control cost nothing. Sensibo also sells an optional plan that adds things like a boost mode, an anti-mould drying cycle and AC health diagnostics. You are not obliged to take it and the unit is not crippled without it.
Why HomeKit is the reason to choose the Air
The Sensibo Air AC controller is the model with Apple HomeKit, and that is the main reason to take it over the cheaper Sensibo Sky we also stock. With HomeKit the air conditioner appears in the Apple Home app alongside everything else, answers Siri, and can sit inside Apple automations rather than only Sensibo ones.
If nobody in the house uses an iPhone, the Sky does the same job for less money. Same sensors, same Wi-Fi, same app, same infrared. We would rather say that here than sell you the dearer one.
The Sensibo Air AC controller fits what you already own
Because it works over infrared, it drives almost any unit you already have, split or window or portable, without touching the wiring or the warranty. It does not care what brand the air conditioner is, because it learns your own remote rather than working from a fixed list.
What it does need is line of sight to the indoor unit, the same as the remote in your hand. It is a 65 mm square puck that sits on a shelf or sticks to the wall on the supplied pad.
Schedules, geofencing and the sensor
Once it is in, the air conditioner answers the phone from anywhere, runs on a seven-day schedule, or starts cooling the bedroom when your phone crosses a geofence on the way home. A temperature and humidity sensor is built in, so a schedule can react to the room rather than only to the clock.
What is free and what is not
The useful everyday features are free and stay free: remote control, seven-day schedules, timers, geofencing, sharing with the family and voice control through Alexa, Google or Siri. Sensibo also sells an optional plan adding a boost mode, an anti-mould drying cycle and AC health diagnostics. You are not obliged to take it and the unit is not crippled without it.
Power is 5 V, 1 A over micro USB with the adapter supplied, on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It will not join a 5 GHz network.
Worth paying more for
Only if somebody in the house is on an iPhone. HomeKit is the entire difference between this and the Sky, and if the answer is no then the Sky does the same job for less. We would rather you spent the difference on a second controller for another room.
Either way there is no wiring, nothing opens, and the air conditioner warranty is untouched. Give it line of sight to the indoor unit and a 2.4 GHz network. Sensibo compare the two models at sensibo.com. Our range: AC and heaters.

Questions
Will it work with my air conditioner?
Almost certainly, as long as the AC came with an infrared remote. Sensibo learns the codes from your own remote, so the brand does not matter. Split units, window units and portables all work. An air conditioner with only buttons on the body and no remote is the one case it cannot help with.
What is the difference between the Air and the Sky?
Apple HomeKit, and the shape. The Air has HomeKit certification and is a smaller square; the Sky does not and is a wider rectangle. Everything else is the same: the same temperature and humidity sensor, the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the same app, the same infrared. If nobody in the house is on an iPhone, buy the Sky and keep the difference.
Do I have to pay a monthly fee?
No. Controlling the AC from anywhere, seven-day schedules, timers, geofencing, sharing with the family and voice control are all free and stay free. Sensibo sells an optional plan on top for extras like a boost mode, an anti-mould drying cycle and AC health diagnostics. The unit works fully without it.
Where do I put it?
Somewhere it can see the indoor unit, because it sends infrared exactly like the remote in your hand. A shelf, a side table or stuck to the wall opposite all work. Behind a curtain or inside a cupboard will not.
Does it need wiring?
No. It plugs into a normal socket with the supplied USB adapter and sits on a surface. Nothing is opened, nothing is wired, and your AC warranty is untouched.
